It depends on your state. There are two dates- your program completion date, which is the date that EC has determined that you've met all requirements for graduation, then later is your actual graduation date, which is the date that shows on your diploma.
Some states allow you to apply for the NCLEX after your program completion date and some make you wait until the diploma is actually conferred.

I Finished the program in early January...Excelsior didn't graduate me until March (just the way it fell). I had to wait another 1.5 months for the board approval and to schedule NCLEX date. I took the NCLEX in May.

I finished all degree requirements 3/17/05, had to wait til May 20th for degree conferral, then took NCLEX 6/23/05. Frustrating to wait so long isn't it. Good luck
You had to wait several months?
Please tell me you're joking.
Please.

nope, hate to tell you that they are right. i finished my last req-cpne-june 26th, and they flat out tell you right there that it will take the college 4-6 weeks to add this req to your records. so i am figuring 2-3 months before able to take boards...the paperwork wait with this school is horrible, but what can you do? they know, publish the info that it takes this long, and basically follow it.
It's like being all dressed up w/ no place to go. Just start studying for NCLEX during this time so you will be ready on the first day you're approved to test.
Congrats. on passing CPNE. I will always believe if you can get thru that, you can do anything you put your mind to.

Great. I was hoping to get my RN before 2006. I guess that's a pipe dream.
My heart just keeps sinking. I busted my backside to finish these exams as fast as I could (and had to drive an over an hour each way to take these tests) and first of all, I was annoyed that it took three months to even get a testing date for the CPNE, now that I have a date waaaaay ahead (September 23) I can only expect to be told it will be at least another two months after I finish the CPNE before I can sign up for the NCLEX.
I'm literally laughing here because I don't know what else to do. I'm too tired to scream.:rotfl: :stone
How long after we get the okay to take the NCLEX can we take that? Next century?

I just took my last class with clep and man what a big mistake, because you know the whole process takes 3-4 weeks and ec to evaluate takes another few weeks, so I called clep and told them to UPS my results over night to ec because I want to meet August 19 graduation and in order to do that all my transcripts need to be in by July 22. If you go to EC site and look under the live and learn catalog they have the deadlines for all the conferral dates near the end. So anyone trying to plan graduation take a look at that catalog and plan ahead.

You got a CPNE test date in only 3 months! Lucky dog. I applied July 04 and took the test Jan 6 2005. (Took in Racine - loved that site tho - examiners were all very nice and professional ladies). My degree conferral was about May 23 2005?? and I took NCLEX 6/23/05. I THINK it kind of depends on which state you're in. EC advised me to have all the paper work to the State board of Nursing even prior to my conferral date to help speed the process. I don't know if all states will let you turn this in early tho. (After I took CPNE, I still had to get 3 humanities credits, because I had been dragging my feet w/ this - not EC fault I went from Jan to May before I was complete)
