What's Your Best Nursing Ghost Story?
Well this didn't happen in a hospital or anything, but story of my great grandfather, he was a very religious man and would see spirits, one night he told his son to leave the door open of a bedroom and his son (in his 20's at that time) forgot to leave the door open and closed the door, soon after everyone was asleep there was a wild knock and the door was shaking, my great grandfathers son just freaked and opened the door and he saw a spirit walk past him into another room. The next morning my great grandfather told his son, I told you to leave the door open because there is a good spirit that lives in the tree and everynight he comes through the window into the bedroom and to the living room into my room and wakes me up to say morning prayers. Also when my great grandfather was taking his last breath, all his family and including me were around his bed at home and he said to all of us move out of the way let him come through, and greeted this spirit, we looked back and did not see anyone. Apparently, he greeted the Angel of Death and soon enough he passed away. And my great grandfather was in perfect health mentally and physically till his last breath.

Hi All passed 2nd time using Kaplan!
Just wanted to let everyone know that I passed 2nd time, I studied using Saunders first time good for content, but Kaplan really helped me. My computer shut off at 75. For all those getting so worked up, I know you have come a long way, but you need to relax, and concentrate on just studying and critical thinking. And go into the exam with positive thoughts and know you will pass. Sometimes I feel more anxious when I read some of these threads and get more negative, but I kept thinking positive and knew I was going to Pass because I reviewed. And for those just coming back from the exam lets be positive because alot of people are reading these threads and feeding into your anxiety. We actually need to start a real thread about Nclex and help each other study and share notes. I think I read only a few threads real old that actually had some valuable information it was from people who were preparing for the exam. Good thing about the Nclex is that you can retake it again and again and again, isn't that Amazing?????!!!! So don't ever lose hope, the board doesn't lose hope, so why should we. Honestly, I thought Kaplan was harder then the Nclex. I was scoring 54% to 64% on Kaplans Qbanks and trainers. And they said you need 65% or higher to pass, somedays when I would review I would just get 46%. The key to your Destiny is in your own Hands!!! (who said that?) peace

All Kaplan Users get in here...
Kaplan is great once you start doing the Q & A, you will start understanding t what the nclex is looking for, I just took the nclex on Mon (still waiting for results) but I have to say Kaplan really helped me. Do the Q bank and definetly do the review and write down the correct answers to the questions in a notebook and review that, every time you will do Qbank your knowledge will increase and you will understand how to answer the questions. I also did the Saunders but it was to easy for me and I found out that the way Kaplan asks you the same questions they really get you thinking. Actually I thought the nclex was easier than the Kaplan, I loved the priority questions because Kaplan prepared me well for it. I answered 75 questions and the computer shut off. If you have any more questions about Kaplan you can pm me. Good luck.

Who am I, the HIPPA police?
With all these laws in place no wonder, people avoid helping car accident victims or someone in need, we are a country of so many laws that we really are afraid and think twice before helping someone out in fear of getting sued. I think sometimes you have to use your best judgement if its the nurses lab results well HELL just give it to her, sometimes you do have to bend the rules a little. And you all know we do it. We are not robots!!!!

How long after CPNE can you take NCLEX?
I just took my last class with clep and man what a big mistake, because you know the whole process takes 3-4 weeks and ec to evaluate takes another few weeks, so I called clep and told them to UPS my results over night to ec because I want to meet August 19 graduation and in order to do that all my transcripts need to be in by July 22. If you go to EC site and look under the live and learn catalog they have the deadlines for all the conferral dates near the end. So anyone trying to plan graduation take a look at that catalog and plan ahead. sarah

EC English Comp
Hi I took the exam on Oct 11 and recieved my grade after thanksgiving, I thought for sure I failed but thankfully I passed with a "C". I thought it was hard only because you have to hand write it in a booklet and you have one hour for each essay and you have 3 essays to write and 3 hours to do them. The good side of it is that i got 6 credits, if you think that you are good at writing essays and can explain your thoughts on paper then you can give this exam, but do not take the risk if you think you can not do it, because it cost $280.

Getting started in senior caregiving.
Hi everyone, I have been a LVN for 10 years and now I have started to realize I would like to open a senior care services. I have some contacts already with only private pay clients. I would like to know how I can get started. I do not want to go with medi-cal, only charge private pay. I have a few questions? How much do I charge if I hire an employee, how much percentage do I keep. What kind of insurance should I get like workers comp. I plan to get a business license and business cards, letterhead etc. I know there are still alot of things I need, so anyone have any suggestions. I would really appreciate anything in detail. thanks

Is it worth it to be independent?
HI all, I have been reading post on this forum about being independent which I have been thinking for a long time. How much can a nurse make being independent, I mean after all taxes and insurance and all that what do you take home. Can you make over 150,000 a year. I know I sound crazy but I would really like some of your opinions. All the effort that goes in being an enterpreneur does it pay in the end. Thanks

2 nurses arrested in CA.....
2 nurses where arrested for giving a 80 year old man medication that was not prescribed by the doctor. The nurses worked on night shift and thought they would give him medication just to make him more comfortable because he was complaining of pain. So they thought instead of Disturbing the doctor they would just give him medication on their own. Geez, why are nurses so scared of calling docs?
