New Nurse Fired for wanting more training
Thank you Omomo-Don I had an interview today and it went well, the DON will be in contact with me next week, she stated how she liked me and wanted me apart of their team and she also stated they would love to have me there and I would love it there....it was an awesome interview....before I could even ask her any questions about training etc, she told me the info first hand and she could emphasize enough how much training they gave and how any one is able to still receive training if they don't feel comfortable.....I thought WOW....just what I need.....and plus it is 12 hour shifts.....The place I came from, nothing but negative people who hate their job and didn't wanna help....nothing but negative energy there but at this place I didn't feel the negative.....We shall see, keep fingers crossed....

New Nurse Fired for wanting more training
Thanks Suesquatch and banditrn for your words of encouragement....I must admit that after losing my job I felt like things was not looking up for me....after working so hard to pass my boards and then when I finally pass I started working right away and get fired within a months time.....Not my vision of how I thought things would go.....on the flip side I am glad they did what they did to me, because I hated the shift I worked and plus that place was the worst, they need nurses beyond belief....nurses quit all the time...so I am glad as well....I did put them back on my resume and I will use others as references.....thanks for all the support guys....you are all so great!

New Nurse Fired for wanting more training
Make sense....but to be honest I don't plan to use them on my resume. I took them off....so I am going in with zero experience....yeah this may hurt me but at least I dont have to use a company that I know didn't like me on my resume or application for referrence and risk the chance of them saying something way out of line about me...

New Nurse Fired for wanting more training
Thanks for your response....I agree with everything you said...but why would it get hard to convince some one to hire me.....Espeically if it is a shortage of nurses out here? I am just curious....of course now I am going to have to get out here an interview for jobs.....

New Nurse Fired for wanting more training
Yes that is what my Mom and other said....be glad I am rid of them, I could have lost my license working for a place like that...and they wonder why they can't keep nurses.....The turn-over rate is very high in that LTC facility.....I am just pissed that they would wanna fire someone who just wants more training....its soooooooo beyond me!!!

New Nurse Fired for wanting more training
As a CNA I trained in the class room for a 4 days and on the floor for 5 days I believe....it was more taining than I received for the LPN....then they had the nerve to tell me I don't get classroom training because I had it as a CNA....I said what about the documentation training and they said you should have learned that when you were on the floor training....***!!!

New Nurse Fired for wanting more training
I was hired by the facility that I worked as a CNA....they offered me an LPN job once I passed my boards this past January.....I was literally thrown on the floor with only 4 days of training and lied to about how I was going to have more training, which I should've had 2 weeks....I was furious and I ended up working a med cart in LTC by myself for 3 weeks and in the process of working the cart the DON was riding me every day about something I didn't do or forgot to do or some documentation that I didn't do right or whatever, it was always something....and keep in mind just about each day I asked for more training, the training they told me that I would get but I never received. I was literally so tired of this DON stalking me it was crazy....I started to hate to be a nurse, I didn't like my job....I got off work late and slept most of the day....I was really thinking about going PRN.....finally after 3 weeks of asking for more training the DON came to me last Friday and said I am going to give you 2 more days of training (this would give me a total of 6 days) on first shift and after that you are on your own....OK so Monday went well with training and Tuesday I thought was going well until it was about time for us to go home at 3 pm and the DON came and got me and the nurse that trained me....she talked to us one at a time, first the nurse that trained me, but when it was time for her to talk to me she told me to follow her....I was looking confused....so we walked and went into a room with the Employee relations lady and the DON basically told me that she was letting me go because she thinks I need to work in a hospital first to get more training.....She says after you come from the Hospital you come back here and I will hire you back....and I am thinking WTF...are you serious....so she then says that I don't know my Pharmacology....LOL....I said what...she said one nurse that trained me said that I didn't know what Robitussin was....I said you got to be kidding me.....I told her that I asked that nurse where was the Robitussin located on the med cart....I know exactly what it is and then I went to break it down to her what the drug is and the classification and all ....She couldn't say anything....I told her you guys knew I was a new nurse when you hired me and as a matter of fact the Administrator called me for a job.....she said I just really believe you need to go to the hospital and get your training and then come back.....I said The only training I needed was on documentation, policy and procedure etc that I never received from you guys....I said I didn't have class on this I was just thrown on the floor to work and you are letting me go because of this....she kept saying that was her reason for letting me go.....I was and still am at AWE....I worked for this place for 6 months....5 as a CNA and 1 as a nurse and all of a sudden she want to let me go because I asked for more training....I told her, its best for me to get the training I ask for, for the sake of the residents and I am trying to protect my license..... I am going to be real with you guys....I was highly pissed....who gets fired for wanting more training.....I seriously think it was more personal because I was standing up to her previously asking for more training....I have thought about going to EECO on them and reporting them to the state board of nursing but I am not sure if I should. What do you guys think I should do....in the meantime I have been looking for work...this all happened yesterday.... I want to be a Nurse but after working at that LTC facility it put a rotten taste in my mouth. My mom says ever place is not bad and unorganized as that place. They have state coming in all the time, they are really short on Nurses and CNA's. Its sad I had to experience my first nursing job as such and turn around and get fired for just wanting more training....I am soooooo pissed!!!!

who used, who plans to use, and are using - suzanne's plan.
I followed Suzanne plan on my first test to the tee and failed my first exam.....I failed mainly do to anxiety not because I didn't follow her plan. "MOST people fail the exam the first time due to anxiety.....the plan is great and more people pass with it than fail....I recommend her plan for any one especially to review nursing knowledge as well as learning how to eliminate wrong answer choices....The planed help me with reviewing school knowledge...as for studying my second time around, I tried something different.....I prepared my second time around for 2 and a half months...I reviewed Saunders for content and I did the Kaplan review for strategies and critical thinking....Kaplan is great, it helped me to reword questions and know exactly what the question was asking and it also helped with eliminating choices and how to choose between the 2 answer choices that we sometimes have left....It also helped with prioritizing BIG time....NCLEX has a lot of prioritizing on the exam....Kaplan "TO ME" is exactly like the NCLEX and it is worth the money for the book as well as the online Q-Bank.....Hope that helps.....
