U.S.A. California

My names Stephanie and I am turning 20 this month, and I need to do something with my life, and I always wanted to be a nurse. My cousin who is younger then me just got her CNA, and I want to get mine now because she said it only takes a month and it doesnt cost that much. I was hopeing somebody could tell me were in California, preferably in Apple Valley area or VictorVille I can get my CNA. And I also wanted to know if I could get it done for free or get a special loan. And how much it normaly costs.:D

Theres no such thing as a free lunch..and around here is costs around 1k; but people told me like 2-3 years ago it was like $200...

There are SOME places that offer the training for free. I dont know about your area, but in Bakersfield theres an LTC here that offers it free, (Im waiting for the classes to start) you just have to pay for the background check. Look around your area at nursing homes, LTC's and so forth, you might find something.

Good luck!

In San Diego I think the CNA class is about $1000 - $2000. But there are free classes. i did my CNA training for free. The only thing I had to pay for was the background check and CPR class.

Can you tell me about the Bakersfield cna? I would love to take it there

Yeah, its supposed to be at Beverly Manor on San Diemas st. They told me to call back at the end of this month for more info. Call 661-323-2894. They said that you just have to pay for the background check, finger prints. And they wont require you to work there afterwards. It seems like a good deal compared to BC charging 1000$, and Bakersfield Adult School charges 500$ not including books.

So far this is all I know, I have been calling them often to find out when classes start. So...if you find out anymore info, let us know K? And I will do the same!

Good luck!! :)

Hi!

I live in the East Bay (SF area...) and I registered, completed, and passed my CNA class in a little under 3 months. It started in Dec 08 and I graduated in Feb 09. It was $600 and we met 4 times a week (once for theory/lecture and 3 times for clinical training in a skilled nursing facility), about 3 or 4 hours a day. The place I took it at offers evening and day classes and I believe they start a new class every month. There are also places that offer you FREE CNA training if you agree to work for them after you get certified. I know a couple places around here that have that agreement set up, but since I wanted to work in a hospital I decided against it. There's also a couple programs nearby that are partnered up with local hospitals who hire the top students in the class! Let me know if you're interested...

The place I took it at is called Golden Hills Health Careers Academy. When I was taking it, the location was in Golden Hills.. near Downtown. I think they relocated though, I'm not sure. I took it about 5 or so years ago so I don't know how much has changed.

Here's their website.

http://www.goldencareacademy.org/gcwi-faq.php

When I signed up they had an entrance exam... just basic math and an interview. The classes fill up quickly because it's free.

i checked into the Golden Hills program and the website states that their CNA classes have been suspended until early 2010, :( booooo! Im totally bummed, but oh well. I should have already started my LVN program by then or i would look at doing it.

thanks for the info. though!
