How hospitals in DWF pay RNs overtime?

Published

I know I have to work overtime to pay the bills as I am the sole breadwinner in the house. In AZ. hospitals pay us bonus for doing overtime. How hospitals in DWF do that? Do they give out bonus? Thank you for your response.

In my experience, some pay it and some don't. That's something you'll need to clarify during the interview or negotiation process.

Currently my place pays time-and-a-half past 40 hr/week.

My previous place paid straight-time. So if you worked 60 hours one week, then you got paid for 60 hours. (We were somehow categorized as "exempt" & not eligible for OT, yet were still paid hourly.)

Dallas-Forth Worth has Group One, and Arizona doesn't. Complain, and you are blacklisted for life.

I am aware of Group One as I have lived here for 10 years. And I believe your statement is a little extreme...but back to the original post...

I'm not sure what your Group One comment has to do with John's question about overtime.

Wow!! You were getting screwed at your previous employer. Here you're paid time and a half for anything over 80 hours in two weeks. This allows for more flexible scheduling. We also have a bonus program in place for the winter months (almost over) and if you commit to a certain number of hours over and above your 80, then you get paid a bonus.

Have a good night.

Overtime in AZ is over 36hr in that week. Always get bonus for each overtime shift. AZ is a good place to work. But other things like kids education, spouse employment opportunites in AZ is not as good as Texas. Plus AZ has a hot hot summer.

The summers in DFW are rather hot, too. They are not nearly as hot as the 120 degrees you all get in Southern Arizona, but you will not totally escape the heat in Texas.

Yup...and thus the word PREVIOUS... :nuke: It's been 7 years, so it might be different there now. That's why I didn't name the place.

And about the hot summers in AZ...isn't it a dry heat? :lol2: People always say that makes a difference. But heck, hot is hot!

It's a gorgeous day today though. I should be outside instead of on the computer!

It is all about market supply and demand. Arizona has more nursing shortages. That is why they pay more incentives for overtimes. If you work at Houston where has nusing shortage, you may find more incentives. I think DWF only has mild version of nursing shortage.

Yes. And Houston's RN pay rates also tend to be somewhat more competitive than those being offered in the DFW area.

Houston's weather's lousy. I hope you like humidity...and heat. I'll stay in DFW thanks, at least here we only have to deal with heat. (Not this week though - 5 inches of snow, 2 days apart).
