How do you choose a thread?

Published

Do you choose a thread based on your mood? Sometimes when I come to all nurses I'm looking for certain information. Sometimes I look for something that pertains to a similiar problem I am having. Often, I start with a thread and when it turns snippy or catty, I'm off to a new thread. Need a good laugh after a crappy day? There is always plenty to make me giggle or even get a good, deep belly laugh! I appreciate so very much everything that all of you share. I was just wondering if any of you have a method when choosing a thread. :D

I look at my subscribed threads first and also check out the Good Morning Thread. Then I click on "New Posts" and read the most current threads going.

Then I go to Current Events and the political threads.

I usually just click on the home page and check out all of the new/hot threads, and then if I don't see anything interesting then I head for The Break Room.

First I'll go to the home page and look at the new threads. Then, being a student, I go to the Nursing Student discussions and look around. Sometimes I go to the General Nursing discussion or Nursing Humor. I also find myself drawn to the specialty forums, because I feel like I need to know more about different specialties in order to choose something when I graduate. Right now I'm drawn to the ED and CC discussions. Sometimes I look around the Break Room, but because I'm relatively new, I rarely post in there.

No matter where I go, though, I love humorous threads or gross ones!

We were all relatively new at one time . . . :D

I first respond to my subscribed threads that I get the email on.

Then the other 99% of the time I just click on the 'new posts' button up top and see what's going on that's interesting.

When I'm doing doing all that I check out the MICU/SICU board to see what's up over there.

Thanks for responses! It may seem like a silly post, but with such limited time between home, work, and caring for 150 acre horse farm I want to make sure I utilize allnurses in the best way. There is so much great info sometimes I don't know where to start. Thanks again!:nurse::[anb]:

I stopped the email notifications a long time ago - it was too much (my fault for posting so much). Now I just go to "My Account" on the upper left and scroll down to "subscribed threads" and poof! There they are!

I can also delete subscription from there too.

Thank you, that was very nice! You just may start seeing more posts from me there...:)

If someone I like starts a thread I always click on it.

I regularly visit the distance learning forum to lend support to those other hardy souls doing it on their own.

I like good fights, so I do tend to wander into controversial subjects.

And sometimes I just meander around, clicking.

When I first discovered allnurses, I used to wander to the NCLEX forum, since that was the phase of life I was in at that time. I primarily hang out in here (because it is the hottest here-always new subjects coming up), or the LPN Forum.

I also begin by reading the emails for responses from posts on threads and it lands me here, anyhow. I do visit the other forums sometimes, however, they seem to move somewhat slow and can see some of the same threads on the page for months, so, I travel where it is hot...LOL

I was curious about all the "places" I couldn't visit as a basic subscriber,so I up-graded! Thanks!:yeah::an!:
