How to become RN in British Columbia?

Published

Hi guys i need your suggestions on this, my wife recently passed the recent board exam given by PRC last June2008, in this regard shes asking the step to take in going for an RN in British Columbia, Vancouver. What are the requirements so she can have her papers assessed.

narscathy, Janfrn and Silverdragon both have a point. We are applying to become nurses in BC, therefore we have to abide by their rules. If you think you deserve to be a nurse in Canada, you have to prove it to them that you are worth it. I too have to go through the SEC assessment. I applied in BC last Nov 2008 because there was no SEC assessment but unfortunately they started to include the SEC in their registration requirements just Dec 2008. Im scheduled for the SEC early next year so im preparing for it now.

Goodluck to you!!!:)

Thank you for the prompt reply AD2008. You really brighten up my faith again. You're advice was very true indeed. I'm not afraid to show what I'm capable of or hide anything to prove myself to anyone. Neither will I give up on achieving my dreams. I take the advice and suggestions of jan and silverdragon , since they have more experienced on their jobs. Anyway, are you a Filipino? what visa will you be taking so that you can the SEC in BC? thank you again and May God Bless you..

I would like to comment about SEC. When I took the CRNE last month (Oct. 7, '09) I met this fellow from Alberta working as an LPN there. I asked him why is he taking CRNE here in BC. He said that he both applied CRNBC and CARNA for registration and each of this colleges have different decision. CARNA required him to undergo SEC and CRNBC made him eligible to take CRNE. I would conclude that each regulatory bodies have different standards when it comes to assessment for IEN's.

He passed the exam and he's optly decided in moving here in BC, wheather wise and other personal reasons....

Hi breech! How was the exam?

Hi breech,

What are the processes to take when your upgrading from LPN to RN in BC? how many months or year do an LPN need to wait before they could apply for eligibility in CRNBC? It is really possible to apply for eligibility in different nursing provinces. That's good to hear. Anyway thank you for your reply. It is really appreciated. GOdBLess..

Hello everyone,

I'm just wondering what will happen if you didn't have satisfactory evaluation with your 250 hours requirement. Passed the CRNE already.

thanks...

I would expect that CRNBC would then revoke your interim permit, or extend your supervised practice requirement.
