Houston Residencies Summer 2019!!

Can you believe applications have started opening up? Anyway, just an early start for everyone to discuss.

I'm planning on applying to Harris Health, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, & TCH, and I will be applying to multiple locations for each. I'm trying to decide if I should branch out and apply at some places out of state or not since I want a very demanding specialty, but I'm not necessarily ready to uproot my family just for my residency. I'm open to suggestions or thoughts from others who have been through this part of the experience already.

I also received an offer from MH TMC. Only verbal. Nothing written yet. The recruiter said she would be in touch later with details about NCLEX and graduating and start dates but for now just stay on track to graduate. So I feel like it’ll be a few weeks before we get anything written

thank you! I wish we could have a written offer to sign already to make it more permanent and set in stone. I truly hope that it can't be taken away from us and that the verbal is good enough for now.

I’m sure the verbal offer is good enough. Additionally, having a verbal and not having signed a contract gives you the freedom to continue interviewing without any kind of repercussions. It’s nice to have that ability if you aren’t 100% sold on the unit you interviewed with.

I received a rejection letter from MHSE today. I saw a few people ask about this campus so thought I would update those who are still wondering.

Children’s Memorial Hermann. I wouldn’t stress it, its more than likely on the way! I know the recruiters had a ton of units to cover

“Unfortunately, you have not been selected for a position with our Nurse Residency Program for Cohort 9, Summer 2019. Please know that we truly appreciate you choosing to interviewing with our team! From here, you may be considered for your 2nd Choice, only if there are still remaining positions. If there are, you will be contacted by a different recruiter regarding next steps. At this point in time there are no more GN positions with TMC or Children’s Memorial Hermann.”

I received the email on Monday, maybe those who did not receive verbal offers on match day for MH TMC or Children’s will likely receive notification this week. It appears all positions there have been filled.

Good luck to all those waiting to hear back! Does anyone know when the applications for the next cohort start/open?

A friend of mine accepted an offer around lunch for the ER at HCA Southeast. I haven’t heard anything myself
