Houston Residencies Summer 2019!!

Can you believe applications have started opening up? Anyway, just an early start for everyone to discuss.

I'm planning on applying to Harris Health, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, & TCH, and I will be applying to multiple locations for each. I'm trying to decide if I should branch out and apply at some places out of state or not since I want a very demanding specialty, but I'm not necessarily ready to uproot my family just for my residency. I'm open to suggestions or thoughts from others who have been through this part of the experience already.

I did hear back from MH going to match day on the 26th for Southwest. I was contacted today. I also got an offer from Methodist for the summer cohort. I'm so excited and relieved

I recieved an email about going to the Match Day from MH TMC. It may take them some time to sort things out, especially when the office needs to sort out all the interview schedules. I think you only hear back from one of your preferences. I picked Medical Oncology as my first choice, so I don't interview my second. I maybe mistaken, but I have read on the questionnaire email that we can only interview with ONE unit during the Match Day, unless there is no match for the first preference. I submitted my Questionnaire the last minute on the 3rd. Maybe go check your scam folder? Sorry for the long message, I wish I could be more helpful. Stay calm and have confidence. I understand that it is very stressful, but focusing on school is more important. Don't let this bother you. I just moved down to Texas and everything is different to me. I have been stressed and worried as well. I would be more lost if I had never seem this forum for us to communicate.

Congratulations! I am happy for you. When do you need to respond to Methodist's offer? Where are you thinking? Which Methodist campus and unit? Still waiting to hear back from the TMC campus.

Yeah I know that we only hear from our first choice location and the one specific unit. I applied to MH Children’s and my friend applied to MH TMC so I was just wondering if anyone has heard something for either.

I’ll be coming from Tennessee and this Texas process is way different than here. I’m excited to eventually hear something though.

I heard from HCA on the 19th, and I submitted my first application to them on the 6th and my follow up on the 12th! My first choice hospital was Women's Hospital of Texas, so I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

@tll I think last year people me didn’t hear from pediatrics until Thursday and Friday so there still is hope! Lemme know if you hear anything!
