Houston Nurse Residency Summer 2021 Applicants

I wanted to start a new thread for those of us applying to Houston new grad nurse residency programs to ask questions and share information.

I am brand new to this site so I hope I'm doing this correctly... Good luck everyone!

I did apply Sunday. TMC 1st and Memorial City 2nd!

hey y'all!

so I have 2 questions about 2 different hospital systems. for MH, I am interested in peds but don't mind working with adults and I understand they said if you're passionate about peds, then it's better not to go for an adult unit. if I am applying for children's MH, what would I put for the 2nd location? only children's MH has general peds, which is the unit I would like to go into.

alsooo for HCA, there are several applications, some of them only titled "RN Nurse Residency" do they offer the units once they accept you, or how does this specific application work?

don't worry guys everyone will get the behavioral assessment and the confirmation emails LOL I promise it doesn’t mean anything, everyone gets the same thing up until the email or call for an interview, if you weren’t chosen for an interview they send a rejection email. Its all standard LOL I've applied the previous cohort and its all the same process for everyone

I had the exact same question about Children’s MH! I just applied to general peds and an adult position at TMC MH. I’m hoping they won’t think negatively of that, but that was my real second choice & I’d happily consider both positions. If they ask, I’m just going to explain that & say that there wasn’t a second general peds option!!

I heard from Methodist Sugarland, they said they’re sending out pre screening interview invites Mid march- April

Yes they did! The senior recruiter sent out an email saying if you meet the requirements you’ll get an invite mid march. It said “All candidates are currently being reviewed and finalized for the Virtual Pre-Screening event that will be held in mid-March.” It also said each location reaches out to you separately which ever one you applied to!
