Houston Nurse Residency: Spring 2023

Hello all! I wanted to start this thread for students graduating in December of 2022. I plan on specializing in either Pediatrics, L&D, or Postpartum! What field do yall plan to go into and where are yall interested in working?  I know that applications for some organizations will be opening up soon. Hopefully with this thread, we can keep each other informed and up to date. So far, I am aware that the Houston Methodist application opens on September 1st, and Memorial Hermann opens on September 11th.

If anyone was able to attend the TCH open house today, may you please share what was talked about?:)

Thank you! Did you get and interview? ? From what I specifically remember during both interviews they asked different questions and it is alot of scenario questions. For example, the typical Tell me about yourself. Why do you want to work at MD Anderson? What are your three biggest strengths that will add value to this role? Name a time you dealt with a difficult patient how did you handle it? Name a time you had a stressful situation in the hospital and how did you manage it and what are your ways that you relieved your stress? They were very specific. It was quite relaxed and conversational for me. Just make sure you thoroughly do your research.

They just introduced each unit with information slides, very similar to MH pre match day. I took a picture of a few of the slides so I will attach them here for you!

Hi! I applied to MDA as well but haven’t heard back yet for them. Was it G18 and G19W you applied for? I submitted my apps last week when it opened but I wasn’t sure if it was too soon or something to hear back yet..also when did u heard back for an interview with them if u don’t mind me asking??

Hi! it was for G-18 and G19W. I am still waiting for one more. I submitted my application on the 1st of September. They called and emailed me for both on the 7th to schedule two interviews one for HR and one panel interview with the team and hiring manager. Had both interviews this week (Monday and Tuesday). They gave it to me on the spot. Does your app show under recruiter review or department review? That might be way because they are going through it right now. Just trying to figure out my options. Do you have knowledge of both units?

I just received an email from Methodist about scheduling a 10 minute call with them and this call will determine if I get invited to the prescreening interviews being held next Thursday. Has anyone else received this?

Ohh okay hm for some reason both apps for G18 opened for me on the 7th, and G19W opened for me on the 9th on the website and I applied the same day it opened, so maybe they opened them back up again. And I’m so glad to hear u got it on the spot OMG! I never heard of someone getting it on the spot for MDA so that’s super nice!! Hopefully I hear back soon??. My G18 app says under recruiter review & G19W says app completed still. I don’t know too much about the units, only that stem cell was nice LOL if that’s of any help, but all of them are good in general!
