Houston Nurse Residency: Spring 2023

Updated:   Published

Hello all! I wanted to start this thread for students graduating in December of 2022. I plan on specializing in either Pediatrics, L&D, or Postpartum! What field do yall plan to go into and where are yall interested in working?  I know that applications for some organizations will be opening up soon. Hopefully with this thread, we can keep each other informed and up to date. So far, I am aware that the Houston Methodist application opens on September 1st, and Memorial Hermann opens on September 11th.

Thanks! I’m noticing that LOL I was hoping for a sooner start but I don’t mind a break from life

I believe it lets you choose from Harris Health hospitals so Ben Taub is an option too!

Ben Taub is under Harris Health but their residencies open based on hospitals not the whole hospital system so right now, only LBJ is open

Actually, the application shows the name LBJ but IDK if you could choose BT under it, I'm not applying there so feel free to look into it a bit more

Yeah I noticed that too but when I applied, they included a drop down list that listed Ben Taub! Hopefully I didn’t mess up by not waiting LOL

OMG thanks for checking! I think you're doing great in applying so early ?

Just a head's up, MD Anderson has applications open! Also HCA is open too in case anyone wanted more options

Can anyone explain what are Memorial Herman's pre match days?

Hey! I went to the Children's Memorial one today. Basically a Zoom call that talks about the different floors. The Nurse Managers of each floor talked about all their accolades and why it'd be a good choice to work on their floor. PICU, NICU, IMU, CSC, and I cant remember the rest tbh. At the end, the recruiter was able to talk to us about benefits, important dates, and answered a bunch of questions. I recommend registering if interested in MH. I'll be attending Friday as well for MH @ TMC.

Aww okay I was wanting to go the Children’s one today but I was not able to. Thank you for the info!

If any of you applied to TCH or Methodist, have y’all heard anything from them?

I applied to both and I have not heard anything either.

I also haven't heard anything back from any apps. However, in an info session, TCH said we should hear back by the end of next week at the latest. They also said PICU, Hem/Onc, and Cardiac specialty units had lots of openings for this cohort and that they'd try to get us into our top 3-5 ranked units.

TCH has been calling back for interviews!
