Houston Nurse Residency: Spring 2023

Updated:   Published

Hello all! I wanted to start this thread for students graduating in December of 2022. I plan on specializing in either Pediatrics, L&D, or Postpartum! What field do yall plan to go into and where are yall interested in working?  I know that applications for some organizations will be opening up soon. Hopefully with this thread, we can keep each other informed and up to date. So far, I am aware that the Houston Methodist application opens on September 1st, and Memorial Hermann opens on September 11th.

when did you hear back? I haven’t heard anything about OR specifically but I’ve heard this interview is harder

I was invited on Monday, I interview this Friday. Oh no, I wonder what they are going to ask!

Got a call for TCH level 3 NICU!! Yay!

Congrats!! Has anyone heard from TCH NICU 2 or 4?

I recently accepted a job offer for MD Anderson(TMC) for the Lymphoma/Myeloma unit!! This is my 1st choice hospital, so I'm super excited!! For those that are thinking about applying or waiting to hear back, this is how it went for me and I hope this helps.

It didn't take that long to hear back once I submitted my job application (max a week). I had an HR phone interview first (took about 10-15 minutes and asked me, 'why do you want to work here?' and my availability for a panel interview). My panel interview had 2 people, and asked me about 4-5 questions (regular 'why do you wanna work here?," and behavioral/situational q's). They were amazing and super nice and after my panel interview, I heard back in 4 days and I accepted! ? BTW! Some units don't call for HR phone interviews and just go straight to panel

I'm so excited for you! This hospital is also my first choice because cancer hits home for me so much. Are you from Houston? I'm trying to find an apartment close to the hospital before I start that is affordable and safe.

Thank you!! I saw in an earlier post you were debating between 2 units, what unit did you end up accepting? and I am from Houston! I'll be commuting to work. I did hear parking is crazyyy and not to choose the brown lot (even though it's cheaper) because there's cases of robbery LOL. Are you from Houston too? I know there are tons of apmts near there but take in mind of traffic! Houston traffic sucks

I ended up choosing the Stem Cell unit! I am from Dallas but this was the only hospital I wanted to work at and like Houston. Yeahhhh I heard parking can be a concern LOL. I just want a close commute to work but affordable place that is safe.

Some interview invites went out at the end of September, and the first-round interview date for some people is 10/17. I think in the webinar they said they would go out in waves as people accept and rescind or until they fill their spots, but I don't remember for sure.

Has anyone applied to St Lukes or memorial Hermann and heard back? I applied about two weeks ago to St Lukes Sugarland and Memorial Hermann a while ago and haven't heard anything.
