Houston Nurse Residency Spring 2021

Hello! I created this thread for those graduating in December who are applying to nurse residency programs in Houston for the Spring 2021 start date. Good luck everyone!!

My interview lasted the whole 30mins and we almost went over time LOL. She was really nice! She asked me when I graduated, if I had taken the NCLEX yet, asked me why Neuro ICU, a time I took accountability for, a time in which I was part of a team. And towards the end of the interview if I wanted day or night shift. She let me ask many questions though and she went over the unit and what they did. I prepared for like 20ish behavioral questions and only the why this unit was the only one I was prepared for to be honest LOL. I even reviewed Neuro content just in case and I didn't get any of that either. My interview felt more like a conversation if that makes sense.

sounds to me like she’s interested in hiring you! if you don’t mind where’d you get your questions to prepare ? & what hospital was this

Did you have a peer interview?? And how was your interview with the PICU if you don't mind sharing? I remember you said it was on Monday! My interview with PIMU is tomorrow!

Hi yes I did and I interviewed with General Peds! It wasn't bad at all they were super nice, it felt more like they were just trying to get to know me. They asked the basic qs and a few behavioral. It was pretty quick!

So do they make job offers before the interviews finish on Wednesday?

I’m glad to hear it went well for you! How many people interviewed you and were there any challenging behavioral questions? Sorry if I ask too much, I am excited and nervous at the same time LOL

It was 4 people total, 2 managers and 2 educators I believe. The peer interview was about 5 nurses who work on the unit. & honestly no none that I could think of! I felt as if I over prepared a little LOL

Thank you for sharing! It’s better to over prepared than under prepared though!

What is peer interview? I’ve never heard of it before. Is that just for the unit that you’re interviewing for?

It might be I have never heard of it for other units. I interviewed for general pediatrics

I hope so! And it was for Memorial Hermann Memorial City. I got the questions online by looking up "nursing interview questions" or a variation of it.

Is anyone else interviewing or interviewed for Trauma Services at MH TMC?

Hi everyone! 
I’ve been following this thread for a while and I am SO excited for all of you ! I’ll be interviewing with MH on Wednesday however I haven’t received any type of response from Houston Methodist. Everyone I know has interviews with them. Does this mean that they have rejected my application? Should I reach out to them ? I hope it’s not too late ?
