Houston Nurse Residency Fall 2024

Published

Hi! I'm graduating this August and plan on applying to positions in Houston in women's health and pediatrics. I wanted to create a thread so everyone can stay up to date on applications/interviews for the October 2024 Cohorts. Good luck!

It's a step-down unit, in between ICU and med-surg. I see patients that are higher acuity than med-surg but not at an ICU level. It's a good unit if you want experience bc you do everything and have less patients than you do in med-surg (we max at 5). I've been told multiple times I can travel up and down any unit bc I will learn a lot. It is, however, technically critical care, and I am just not a critical care nurse LOL.

Hi! I just had a question - are you days or nights?!

Thanks you guys for all the support 🥹🩷

Choose you! In the end of the day, your own happiness, personal and mental health matters. That is your priority!

In the end of the day, you have experience, whether with a residency or not. You can go anywhere you want and always choose you first! What's meant for you is for you, and it will ALWAYS work out. I have someone close to me who is in outpatient OR (all things OR) as a new grad, and she is not doing nursing residency. Pay is phenomenal, and she did not do the "traditional" route as she expected, but she wouldn't have it any other way.

In the end of the day, it's all about putting you first in every aspect, putting your best foot forward, your dedication, knowing it will always work out for you, and never settle!! 💓 I am rooting for you!

Do any places hire new grads without residency? I feel like I'm having a hard time finding anything

Is this the pasadena location?

I saw a couple of y'all mention that HCA Pasadena and Northwest locations were hiring new grad nurses. Was there any new grad positions for HCA The Women's Hospital for this October cohort? Like did they even open applications?

No & Per an email I got from a recruiter today, this is what they said when I asked about womens -

Unfortunately we do not have any new grad positions in Women's Services at this time at our Houston facilities.

Does anyone know when next cohort opens up?

Okei originally I thought I didn't have the recruiters info for the Pasadena location, but I went through my old emails and found this email in my offer letter: [email protected]. In the offer letter it says she's a new grad recruiter. I assume she's the recruiter specifically for Pasadena.

Awesome thank you so much! I wanted to ask her about my application

did you decide what you are going to do after all? Is there maybe another unit that's less stressful other student mention maybe you can move to
