Houston Nurse Residency Fall 2024

Published

Hi! I'm graduating this August and plan on applying to positions in Houston in women's health and pediatrics. I wanted to create a thread so everyone can stay up to date on applications/interviews for the October 2024 Cohorts. Good luck!

For those working with Angels of Care, how long did yall wait between hire date and first training shift? I went with PRN instead of PERM and it's been a while and haven't heard back after onboarding.

Also, if you already trained with one GT pt, do you need to do another training again if you're working with a different GT pt?

I reached out to AOC from a lead recruiter on FB, and no one has gotten back to me regarding starting my job. maybe they're getting full with all the desperate new grads

I'm not sure how PRN works but I want to believe there's a number that usually posts available Shifts via text message so you can pick up. But make sure your number has been added to receive those messages.

FOR GT you only train once and this also applies to any other skills.

For those who interviewed with St Luke's and got an offer, can you please share your interview questions or tips? And how your interviews went. Please

Oh yes, I receive those texts! Just not sure I can or should reach out if I haven't received training specific to their condition

You only get trained when you pick a case

So why are people getting rejected? Is it because maybe they didn't do an externship or work as a CNA? Bad interviewing? No connections? I am just wondering cause that's what it seems. Also if someone can send a list of any other smaller hospitals (or big), clinics, other nurse jobs that are hiring new grads please send! Thank you! 🙂

Did you already interview? If so, could you please share what they asked or give any tips?

I was asked questions like tell me about yourself, why nursing, how do you establish rapport and trust with my patients, describe a favorite patient and why. Very easy questions and they only asked a few LOL. It's basically a panel and each person will ask you 1 question and then you can ask them questions about specific units you're interested in and the hospital, and they will probably ask if you're open to other units.
