Houston GN Residencies

I will be a new grad in May 2011 with my BSN and I have applied to a few residencies such as St. Luke's and Memorial Hermann, but I can't seem to find any of the other hospital's postings yet. Has anyone else been able to?

Congrata so happy for you. I heard TCH might hire more nurses for the new building so I would suggest you keep checking back. Mda said they might have something up this summer but you have to have ur license first

Does anyone know if Clear Lake is going to have a internship this semester?? Keep looking but never see anything and I guess I missed the Bayshore one :(

Well, just to let you know. I talked to some people in HR and they started setting up interview or already started having interviews....

Congrats Miss Pamela!! Thats awesome, the job market in the big cities are just drenched right now with new grads its such a shame.

Good luck to everyone still looking for a job, I have quite a few classmates that are still waiting on interviews and calls from various hospitals.

I was wondering if anyone got into the St. Luke's GN residency?

MissPamela19 nothing yet. Still looking. I called St Jospeh last week and they are deciding if they are going to have a internship this semester. If they do it will start in July.

Here's some advice: dont limit yourself to just Houston. Its hard enough as it is to find a job, why make it harder? I applied in Austin and got a job. Do yourself a favor and apply everywhere. Dont be afraid to travel if it is possible for you.

I personally have applied at other places. Particularly smaller towns. And still no call backs yet.

I agree with the concept of applying everywhere... I applied to SA, Dallas, Houston. Applying to the big cities was crazy difficult because everyone wants to work there!

Trill no luck at HCHD? That's ridiculous did you voice your intent? They told me I should have spoke up when i applied....

Nope, no luck. I did voice my intent very strongly. I talked to the recruiter the minute I heard external applicants getting calls. He told me that they are NOT attempting to pass me over, in any way. He says that just due to the massive amounts of apps, they are going in the order that it was received. He said that if by the end of May I don't get contacted, I should contact him again and he will personally set me up an interview. This was about 3 weeks ago. But my insticts are telling me that I should call sooner, not wait until the end of May. But half of me doesn't want to become a pest either. Should I call anyway??

Trill, I would TOTALLY call back again. I'd wait until this Friday and then call him back. By no means would I wait until the end of May ... that's still 4 weeks out!
