I will be a new grad in May 2011 with my BSN and I have applied to a few residencies such as St. Luke's and Memorial Hermann, but I can't seem to find any of the other hospital's postings yet. Has anyone else been able to?
Yes... And I called HR today and they basically told me that all the people they wanted to interview has been interviewed. Soooo..... On to the next one! At first I was really stressed, upset, and worked up for the past month (I know, it's not healthy), but now, I realized that that place wasn't destined for me as my first job. But I kept trying to fight against God's plan and allowed worry to overtake me, because I was literally becoming physically unwell over it. So after talking to my friends about it.... I need to snap out of the pity party (LOL) and realize that I was freaking out over ONE hospital.
And after that HR call, I had something borderline miraculous happen at the grocery store *if your curious to know, feel free to ask lol*, and I took that as a sign that I will always be taken care of regardless of what happens. Not only that, but I called another prospective hospital and the recruiter liked me and my extra certifications so much that she will set me up for an interview for an ICMU position (and cross train in the ICU)! So let's just say that today was a rollercoaster of emotions for me! Wish me luck and Good luck to you M-cabos!!

And down here (Laredo), the pay is CRAPPY for new grads (I'm talking 18.50/19.50 an hour for BSN new grads with both ACLS and PALS certifications) and harsher working conditions, the city is more expensive that Houston (due to less competition of businesses) and majority of the population are spanish speaking, so if you aren't fluent in Spanish, you might have a hard time. (I don't speak it)
