Houston GN Residencies

U.S.A. Texas

I will be a new grad in May 2011 with my BSN and I have applied to a few residencies such as St. Luke's and Memorial Hermann, but I can't seem to find any of the other hospital's postings yet. Has anyone else been able to?

And down here (Laredo), the pay is CRAPPY for new grads (I'm talking 18.50/19.50 an hour for BSN new grads with both ACLS and PALS certifications) and harsher working conditions, the city is more expensive that Houston (due to less competition of businesses) and majority of the population are spanish speaking, so if you aren't fluent in Spanish, you might have a hard time. (I don't speak it)

Well hopefully everything will work out for you at Ben Taub. Because that sounds miserable!

Thanks, and hopefully you will get many job offers too!

Thanks! I'm excited!

Glad to hear people are getting positions. There are two more hospitals in other cities that will have a internship soon so maybe I will get something with those. If not I guess I will have to wait to get something after I get my license.

I heard that people are starting to get emails from HCHD for the selection of second interviews....has anyone received any yet? I heard that they were only told they were selected but they haven't made any specific time and date appointments...

I know that the Externs and (students that did clinicals) that worked at Ben Taub already had a first interview M-cabos. I know they are in the process of setting up the 2nd panel interviews.

Yes... And I called HR today and they basically told me that all the people they wanted to interview has been interviewed. Soooo..... On to the next one! At first I was really stressed, upset, and worked up for the past month (I know, it's not healthy), but now, I realized that that place wasn't destined for me as my first job. But I kept trying to fight against God's plan and allowed worry to overtake me, because I was literally becoming physically unwell over it. So after talking to my friends about it.... I need to snap out of the pity party (LOL) and realize that I was freaking out over ONE hospital.

And after that HR call, I had something borderline miraculous happen at the grocery store *if your curious to know, feel free to ask lol*, and I took that as a sign that I will always be taken care of regardless of what happens. Not only that, but I called another prospective hospital and the recruiter liked me and my extra certifications so much that she will set me up for an interview for an ICMU position (and cross train in the ICU)! So let's just say that today was a rollercoaster of emotions for me! Wish me luck and Good luck to you M-cabos!!
