Hello everyone,

I have started a thread for anyone who will be applying for Houston Community College ADN Spring 2016. Please add any questions and or comments and hopefully we will be able to exchange information here and keep ourselves positive on our journey to get accepted into the nursing program. I can't wait to hear from everyone! I haven't taken my HESI A2 exam so any pointers would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Wow they can actually cancel the HCC program but how?

Can anyone tell me exactly what type of questions are on the grammar part of hesi-examples? Does it ask anything about clauses, predicates, etc. Or is it just using the correct word, their vs there? I'm getting really nervous about this

Yes! I also saw that the Kingwood? program from lone star is under warning! As of right now, CyFair is still in good standing. For 2014 they also had a passing rate under 80% so we'll see how they do for 2015. And wow! I can't believe she actually told her that but I'm VERY glad she was honest with her!! Oh my! The competition for BSN programs would be harder that it already is!!!!

HopefulRN - programs can be shut down at any time if they are not following protocols/policies, etc. TX BON will shut down a program before allowing a program to continue to send out nurses that aren't well prepared or didn't get the proper training. Can you imagine having completed 1 year at a program and it shuts down! I've read about it..scary stuff.

what do you mean for HCCS? Why did tell you to apply for fall next year is it full already? Deadline isn't until September 1st

Oh wow. Did they tell you from HCCS to apply for fall next year as well. I thought the deadline isn't until September 1 to apply for Spring?

I applied for fall this year and many people that were accepted and did all the post requirements got declined at the last minute. Many of us reapplied. But one of my friends that went for orientation was told to apply for fall next year.

I would suggest to apply to at least 4 schools to keep your options open.

WOW....my jaw just dropped. I wonder why they did that??? I don't think things are looking good for HCC right now. They're probably trying to keep the classes small to ensure better teacher-student ratios and be able to bring up their NCLEX passing rate.. Yes this is very worrisome!.... competition for other programs is going to get fierce too :wideyed:

They said that they were not able to place all students in clinicals. Only 80 got accepted so for spring the other +-120 that were accepted at first will be reapplying. We all did the background check, vaccinations, etc. You can check the posts from fall 2014. Good luck for spring.

They let me apply for Spring, nothing was mentioned about next fall. They took my cumulative GPA from HCC since that is where all my prereqs come from, which helped me out a LOT. If they would have averaged it with my former GPA at another school I would have been at the very tip of a 3.0...

Trying to get everything I need a head of time, just did CPR today... can someone explain the background check? Where do I need to go to get it? Is it a finger print card? Very confused about that.
