Houston Community College ADN Spring 2016 Applicants

Hello everyone,

I have started a thread for anyone who will be applying for Houston Community College ADN Spring 2016. Please add any questions and or comments and hopefully we will be able to exchange information here and keep ourselves positive on our journey to get accepted into the nursing program. I can't wait to hear from everyone! I haven't taken my HESI A2 exam so any pointers would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Once you get accepted, they will send you an email to follow instructions with a code. The company that I submitted my documents was certified profile. Remember to get your CPR from the American heart association.

Hello, so did they make you still turn in your transcript from the other school where your GPA was low? Or did the one from HCC suffice?

Also do they just take the GPA from your prerequisites for nursing school or everything you took at HCC?

From what I know, HCC in general requires that you turn in transcripts from any previous school. However all of the prerequisites I needed were taken at HCC, so my unofficial transcript was adequate. I brought an official transcript from my previous school just in case, but the counselor said he didn't need it.

The courses I took at the previous school were for another major and were totally unrelated to nursing. I didn't do too well and didn't enjoy the subject... lets just say I'm definitely more life science/health orientated!

They took my GPA from all the courses I took at HCC, not just the prerequisites.

Okay, thanks for the information. One of my friends told me they only did the GPA cumulative for pre requisite courses. I hope they just do those because overall I only have a 3.06 😔

Just check the GPA that is written in the application.

Why are you worried? Because of the GPA or the board of nursing passing rates?

I would not worry a bit about HCC nursing program being shut down. They have been open for a long time and have a lot to risk if they allow failing rates to be posted once again. With the recent changes they have made all will be well. As far as the GPA I would just try to take more classes and go for the BSN. I would wait around to see if you get accepted into the ADN program
