Houston Community College ADN Spring 2016 Applicants

Published

Hello everyone,

I have started a thread for anyone who will be applying for Houston Community College ADN Spring 2016. Please add any questions and or comments and hopefully we will be able to exchange information here and keep ourselves positive on our journey to get accepted into the nursing program. I can't wait to hear from everyone! I haven't taken my HESI A2 exam so any pointers would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I sent you an email

For some reason it isn't letting me look at it and is disabled. Can you copy and paste it and send it to my real email address? [email protected]

I just received an email this morning from Ms. Dumond saying the same thing as everyone else. The titers have to be uploaded and approved by CertifiedProfile. My issue was with the Hep B vaccine, I could've sworn they said at the information session that as long as you had proof you have all three shots for the series you were good. I don't remember them saying you had to provide titers as well. Unfortunately, I hear this isn't anything new with HCC. They aren't very clear with their requirements. I hope everyone is able to get everything sorted and if anyone hears any news about the titers, could you please post it on the thread to keep us informed. Thank you!

I believe titers are for those who did not complete series.

I didn't have any trouble with uploading on certified profile. They were very specific on the letters they sent out. They even extended the deadline because of the issues with Certified profile website. Which by the way was certified profiles fault they did not change the tracker when HCCS asked them to

I completed the Hep B series and provided CertifiedProfile with the immunizations record. They rejected it, stating I needed to provide proof of a positive titer, not just proof of the completed series. I emailed the admissions advisor and she told me that CertifiedProfile was correct in doing so, that the titer was needed. If your immunizations record was enough to suffice the requirement, you're lucky! I'm going to have to get a titer now and upload that.

I met with the advisor today. She basically told me that if you don't have a titer that you can't start school. I did receive the full series of immunizations when i was little, but sometimes they wear off in your system. When you have to get a booster shot, there is a specific amount of time you have to wait in between them and then you have to wait weeks for your boat to produce the antibodies. So basically if you don't have a positive titer uploaded and approved by dec. 11, you're going to have you re-apply.

Thank you for the clarification, Mackenzie. Hope you're able to get everything figured out in time!

I apologize. Mackenzie right. Since I had all positive titers already of course they would not require me to have booster shots

Just a heads up for the ones who haven't gotten their flu shot, Costco and Sam's Club is doing it for like $15 to $20!

Is anyone else still waiting on their nursing clearance card? It's been two weeks and I haven't received it yet? I'm so glad they gave an extension! This is stressful

I received mine within a week. I would call board of nursing now and ask if they have sent it out and when did they send it. Just in case it got lost and they need to resend it.

Thanks will do!
