Hello everyone,
I have started a thread for anyone who will be applying for Houston Community College ADN Spring 2016. Please add any questions and or comments and hopefully we will be able to exchange information here and keep ourselves positive on our journey to get accepted into the nursing program. I can't wait to hear from everyone! I haven't taken my HESI A2 exam so any pointers would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
If you received a letter with additional spots is because those who were accepted if they declined their spot by October 15 then those became available.
This time around they have secured clinical spaces for those that received letters of acceptance or spots open.
There was a big mess last semester so they are not sending out letter unless the spot for clinicals are secured. Consider yourself lucky because the ones accepted from here on are the best of best since they want NCLEX scores to go up.
Congratulations!!!
@dgarcia 14 how was the application process for you with chamberlain I'm apply for the fall there as well!!!
It was pretty simple. You just meet with an adviser to go over transcripts, take the HESI at their campus and wait to hear back if you have gotten accepted or not. I think there is still time to apply for the spring semester.
Hi all,
Im not sure if this is too late but I had a couple of questions. First, I was accepted for the Spring 2016 application period for HCC, therefore, when we got accepted they sent us a list of things we had to do and turn in, to certified background check. I'm wondering if anyone else is having issues with getting everything in on time. The reason I ask this is because I was just informed last week that my titer shot for MMR wasn't positive. (As in the shot I had gotten when I was a baby had worn off, the antibodies that is) I am in the process of getting the booster shot and am getting the last one two days before the deadline. With all of the issues that certified background check had the first month of us being accepted, it took me over two weeks for them to let me know that my proof of vaccine was rejected and that I had to go get a titer shot and then another booster shot (because how was I supposed to know I had no immunity when I had already had the shots as a child). The thing is that to get a booster shot, you have to wait 28 days in between and then it takes a minimum of 2 weeks to get a positive titer, and then you have to wait to be accepted by the certified profile people. With all this waiting there isn't even enough time to get in all of the required documents with the amount of time that they gave us. Is anyone else having these issues?
Thanks
It's not only you Mackenzieh, I completed my shot for varicella last week and I was told by my doctor that I have to wait for 6 to weeks to get a positive titer. This means I won't be able to meet the deadline too. I left a mail for ----------------- and she said I have to submit a positive titer. I will be calling her tomorrow to hear what she has to say again.
I haven't had an issue with them approving docs, but the deadline for positive titers I'm having an issue with as well. I'm taking my 3rd shot on today, I took first one 2 years ago, but according to what I read it doesn't have to be restarted. I'll wait two weeks to take my titers, I'm just praying it comes back positive. Mrs. C.D. was VERY adamant about the fact that it has to be positive by the deadline or they are revoking acceptance. Not fair if you ask me, especially if everything else is done and taken care of.
It blocks out the names you suggested FutureRNN, if you can email me please and let me know the two ppl you suggest we talk to please? [email protected]
I am going in to talk to them today as well. If you look at the timeline, there wasn't enough time to begin with. If I would have gotten the shot the very day that I got my acceptance letter, I still wouldn't have had enough time to provide a positive titer for them because the whole process takes so long. It's like we were set up to fail to turn all of our paperwork in from the beginning. Not to mention all of the issues that certified profile was having. It took them almost 2 weeks to respond to my uploaded file and to reject it because they had last semesters info and profile up. I hope they are a little lenient on these issues due to all of the craziness that went with uploading everything for this coming semester. Let me know how your talk goes with them. Also, does anyone know if there is anyone else who may be higher with more authority who we can talk to. I just think we have all worked so hard for this (not to mention I quit my job thinking I was going to start) and it would be devastating to not be able to start due to this little issue that will be resolved before school even starts.

I didn't get the additional spots one, maybe that was for waitlist, but she did send one stating that our uploads have been extended until Dec 11th. She also has responded to several of my emails, so I believe it's legit. I was bummed I didn't get into UT, but getting in anywhere is a blessing! Looking forward to this new journey!!
