hello guys! I'm going to take the NLE this June. Please share any advice and tips that you may have about what areas/subjects to focus on, what books to read and what review materials to study... thank you very much.

hello sir! i just want to know if.. incase a person did not pass the NLE and he will apply for the NCLEX after he failed, do you think it will affect the application for the ncleX considering that the person failed the philippoine local board?

thanks

Yes, it will. Look at it from the other side, if you were working at the BON in the US: Would you want a nurse who could not pass the local boards in their own country? And also the nurse needs a Visa Screen Certificate, and it needs to be recorded there that the person did not pass their exam, and that it was taken. And the VSC is required for the green card to live and work in the US.

The NLE is not a requirement currently to work in the US. This means that it is not required to be taken, however, if the person takes it, then they must pass it if they are planning to work in the US.

sorry,suzanne4,..to ask about this Q's .It's likewise concerning NCLEX(approval & Disapproval)

just wanna ask about your opinion regarding this prob.. How The BON particularly evaluating the said requirements (TOR) to be qualified to take NCLEX? I haven't read something once there's reflected failed on the TOR in particularly major nrsg. subj.is one of the cause /reason of DISAPPROVAL(These 2 subj.were already passed after the retake.)i guess reflected failed in TOR doesn't mean a NURSE is already incompetent or whatever...

looking forward of your opinion...thanks

thanks suzzane. but how is it possible for the BON in US to know if the filipino nurse did not pass the NLE?

what if the nurse has an immigrant visa already? is the person still impossible to take the nclex?

thanks you so much. i hope you can enlighten me

They can check up if they so desire but also it will ask on your application form and can be classed as lying if you do not declare which in turn will have an impact on immigration status and can result in a ban of up to 10 years. You have to decide if that is worth it or not.

Things may soon change and it becomes a requirement like other countries that you are licensed in your own country before you apply to countries abroad.

WOW!! i guess nobody knows how soon this is to happen. well i guess its not as fast as a year or two?

thanks you sir!

by the way. some might think why i am asking questions about the NCLEX while asking about the NLE. me and my wife have the same forum name. but most of the time i ask questions in behalf of her. we didnt want to make different names in one computer because same IP add will appear. anyway the important thing is many people enlightned me with their responses!!! thanks allnurses.com and all the people who are helping!:balloons:

hi, i'm currently in the process of choosing review materials for the upcoming local boards. to those who took the boards, could you please help me choose the best material for the local boards?

1) Med Surg Nsg by Udan

2) Mosby's Comprehensive Review

3) Saunder's Comprehensive Review

4) Lippincott Comprehensive Review

I know they all contain essentially the same things but which one would you recommend for the local boards? I wish to really narrow down my references to a few for me to be able to focus. Thanks!

Also, I'm still in the process of choosing whether to enroll or not in a review center. I'm inclined to do a self review though. Any help would be appreciated!

I took the board last June 2007 and I suggest that you review on the following topics/books:

Public Health nursing in the Phil (authored by DOH)

Med/surg of UDAN

First AID

Nursing research

Psychiatric Nursing

Basic skills and procedure in nursing

I'm sure that you'll not be taking the same exam but during our time, I didn't encounter OB questions. more on med surg, nursing research, psych, first aid, nursing interventions, assessment, nursing process

hope this information will help you. God bless on your exam! you can do it. You just have to STUDY and PRAY!

what are the factors that can affect on how to pass the local board exam?
