Hi all,
I am starting my RN associates in Broward College, Fort Lauderdale, South Florida from jan 2010. Can someone please tell me about any companies or hospitals that can sponsor for my fee under the working contract. I am in States already.
Also, it seems like you did not notice that I was addressing not the post #1, but post #37 where Ghillbert made a wrong suggestion that in order to emigrate (Green card) a nurse has to have a bachelor's degree (wrong) and I explained why it's wrong.
I have never mentioned the word emigrate. I am working in the US on a temporary visa, although it is indefinitely renewable. I consider that I have immigrated to the US as my visa holds no requirement to maintain residence elsewhere.
Apparently we all have misunderstood anyhow. The OP has clarified and it seems you want your university fees paid/forgiven if you work off the debt at a hospital?
I would severely doubt this is possible, because a condition of the F1 visa is that you "...must have sufficient funds available for self-support during the entire proposed course of study". Otherwise anyone who can't afford it could get an F1 and do study and have a hospital pay. A big part of the purpose of F1 from the US' point of view is that they make "out of state" fees and living expenses out of you.
Yes, My question was about signing a contract with a hospital that can pay for my fee under the contract that after the completion of my degree, i will work for the same hospital for 2 years who paid for my fee during the degree I am starting now. This is a differenr sponsorship that I am looking for. I want to know if anyone knows such hospitals who are willing to sponsor me under the constarct. Here are many such hospitals in south florida who are sponsorring the green card holders or citizens but not the international student. I, being an international finding it difficult to find such offer. Can someone help on this please.
The likelihood on finding a employer willing to pay for your fee under contract will be hard at the moment due to retrogression. If you sign a 2 year contract then you are in a bind because OPT will only allow you to work for 12 months and then you will need a visa allowing you to stay and work which will be hard. As a new grad you will not meet H1b requirements and for a greencard if retrogression is still ongoing then you will be affected. Also as a F1 you are, as mentioned already, supposed to be able to support yourself whilst a student.
Then it will be difficult. If you can work in nursing field ,some hospitals provides fee for further studies, especially in Texas ,even for spouses they are providing fee. Can't you find some other jobs [walmart]?
On a F1 working is restricted especially the first year and also hours worked.

You are right. You mentioned the word "immigrate" in your post #5.
If you want to immigrate based on employment, you need a bachelor degree.
I hope that you can see now that BSN is not a requirement for immigration, especially if one graduates from the nursing school in the US. You probably hold E visa. Although you say it can be renewed indefinitely, you are considered a non-immigrant, and you are a subjects to many restrictions that don't apply to immigrants (permanent residents).
I'm done with this topic. Thank you very much everybody.
Our hospital has recently decreased the amount they will give towards tuition reimbursement for those who want to get a higher degree. From what I've heard some have even eliminated that option. Usually one must be employed with the hospital first before they will even consider that. The economy the way it is, I highly doubt most will be willing to grant tuition reimbursement to one on a F1 visa especially if they can't make the committment of working for the hospital for 3-5 years. If the contract is broken some require that all or partial must be paid back to the hospital.
I am from kerala and i am in Texas. Some hospitals reimburse fee if you are qualified as RN only. You can go through www.baylor.com and www.texashealth.org.I am not sure about you, because you don't have PR.You contact them anyway. All the best

As an international student most likely you won't be able to find such a sponsor because there is no guaranty that you will be able to stay and work for them. You may try to get a private loan if you have a co-signer. May I ask you why you've decided to became a nurse?
