Hospital Sponsoships for International Nursing Students

Published

Hi all,

I am starting my RN associates in Broward College, Fort Lauderdale, South Florida from jan 2010. Can someone please tell me about any companies or hospitals that can sponsor for my fee under the working contract. I am in States already.

Here is a better approach. Go for your RN and apply for CPT a semester before graduation. Get yourself a part time job. When about to graduate, apply for 1 year OPT and get yourself a fulltime job after graduation. You can work two jobs and save enough for your BSN. Once your OPT is kaput, go back to school and finish up your BSN. I recommend MSN instead of BSN. With MSN you will get easily get a job even outside the country. I am assuming that you love nursing and not driven by quick money. And don't let people discourage you please! My wife is taking the same track and I just got a phd in a different field and once she is done with her program, I believe that we will be able to move out the states in smiles and with confidence if need be.

Hi,

I'm originally from Belize. I did my BSN in the USA and now I'm doing my masters to be a Nurse Practitioner. I worked a year in the USA after receiving my BSN. I have 2 questions:

1) is it easier to get sponsored with a MSN degree? what do I need to do?

2) am I able to work in a hospital while studying? i would like to continue working as a nurse but at the same time I don't want to use up my OPT until I complete my program (I think the working experience would definitely boost the theories I learn in class but I don't know who to contact)

I would appreciate any advice.

If you're on an F1 visa, you need to ask your school about work. There are restrictions on what type and how many hours' work you can do, and generally it's only on-campus.

It is easier to get a job and a visa when you have a masters degree. If you get a job as an NP, that requires a masters degree, they can sponsor you in the EB2 category for a green card (advanced degree professionals) or they can apply for a working visa (H1B).

I work at a clinic in rural area. The doctor want to sponsor me for work visa or may be a greencard. Is it possible ?? I hold ADN degree. Thank you for your help.

You don't qualify for a H1b visa with an ADN. For a green card you're looking at waiting years for a visa.

Hi Kocheli,

I am a BSN final year student in US in H4 Visa, originally from India.I will be graduating by May 2011.I am receiving financial aid from a hospital in a rural area with an agreement of 2 years work the complettion of BSN.Now I am in a dilemma, that when I graduate I will not be able to work in the hospital in H4 visa! Is H1B possible for a fresh BSN graduate from US? I know the hospital will be ready to do their maximum, to avail my service as they spent money on me.What options I have infront of me?Please give me some advice on this matter.

Thank you for your time

You may want to get in touch with your advisor from school. I believe there are those that specialize working with international students. They can provide you with tons of information. Good Luck
