Hospital Sponsoships for International Nursing Students

Published

Hi all,

I am starting my RN associates in Broward College, Fort Lauderdale, South Florida from jan 2010. Can someone please tell me about any companies or hospitals that can sponsor for my fee under the working contract. I am in States already.

No work visa will allow you to stay in the US and work. H1b is BSN and specialist and as a new grad you will not be a specialist.

Immigrant visa you can apply for as a ADN but as from India (as explained already) you will be heavily affected by retrogression and will not be able to AOS and stay in the US (visas have to be current to do that)

You will have to consider doing your BSN and hope things are moving a bit more smoothly for you by then

OK - please tell me what work visa permits you to have an associates degree...?

The OP is from India, so an EB3 is out of the question for now. That leaves working visas, none of which one is eligible for with an associate degree.

Green card. She just starts school. So we are not talking about now.

Well if she/he is looking to apply for a GC then there's going to be several years wait in order to have a chance at a visa. Some people have been waiting between 5-7 years and still don't have a visa. Being that the OP is from India the wait might be even longer.

If retrogression is still ongoing when they complete their training then they will be affected by retrogression. Considering this has been ongoing since Oct 06 and there are many many already in the queue I highly doubt things will improve quickly at the moment. However things may change but those in the queue should come first

Starting an associates degree, we're talking about 2 years. There's no way an Indian national will be staying in the US with a green card in 2 yrs time.

Do you have a crystal ball? What if immigration reform happen within the next 2 years or another bill will authorize more schedule A visas for nurses? What will you say then, besides "I'm sorry"? Could you predict in 2003 that there will be schedule A visas in 2005?

We can't predict however we are aware that there are many more affected by retrogression and already in the queue, even if things start moving due to the high volume waiting I would be surprised if everyone gets in. Many in 2003-4-5 from Philippines India and China where affected by retrogression due to th ehigh demand from them countries in 2006 everyone was affected so retrogression is not a new thing but the idea is diversity and even Schedule A visas was allocated by country and where affected by retrogression when demand was a lot higher than visas allocated.

Just hoping for something to happen is not the right thing to do, be aware and be prepared is all we are saying. Remember people only thought retrogression would last a few months and is still ongoing 3 years later

Schedule A visas was allocated by country

Actually they were not.

Actually they were not.

I stand corrected however schedule A was only 50,000 recaptured visas and was not indefinite. There are many many more than 50,000 waiting in the queue already so if something similar is released by the time training is complete they will more than likely be exhausted.

Still better to be prepared for the worst and the best happens than think things will change and hope then find problems due to having to find another country to work. Not all countries will accept ADN training

Why are you so rude and adversarial? We are all here trying to help people and it's really not necessary to be such a know it all. If this person wants legal advice, they should go to an immigration lawyer. If they post here asking people's opinions, then I can post mine without having you continually suggesting other people are wrong and you are right - especially when you do not bother to clarify what people mean before declaring they are wrong.

I don't know your qualifications (if any), but I am a foreign trained nurse currently working in the US, so I think my input is valid.

I think I can fairly certainly guess that an Indian national who is just starting an ADN will NOT be finished, licensed, and able to obtain a green card (incl. medical and processing, interviews etc) in the time necessary to not have to leave the US after their 2yr degree. It doesn't take a crystal ball to make that prediction. In any case, if that proves incorrect, I certainly won't need to apologize - I'm sure they and I would be happily wrong.

I see you got all pessimistic responses, my thought is: don't loose faith. Despite the economic problems there is always something you can do...
