This is just a rant....but you tell a prospective employer you were terminated to be HONEST and trustworthy to them....and then it BACKFIRES like microwaving a dead frozen rat for your pet snake......

I basically have to do a whole brand new career because no hospital will take me.... Will nursing EVER improve? All these characteristics about being empathetic, caring, devotion, commitment, helping other etc etc ALL BS. Because if your not that $paying$ customer, not patient, CUSTOMER, (who mind you has all the power to make or break your facility's reimbursement through HCAPS or your job security) you mean nothing.

Pfff....I am just real ticked off... thats all.............:banghead:

Hell no, nothing like that. I met all competencies, just stupid stuff...I don't want to get into it.

New doors....I am currently looking for that door, that door is definitely not around here... :/

If you still have your licence than you were not fired for anything "major"..it had to be like a personal conflict or something else. Why would your career be ruined..you where let go from one facility .. so, learn from it and move on with a different perspective and more knowledge of the kindness/unkindness of "healthcare field"..

..I have to say I sympathise with you because I have been in healthcare for not quite 2 years and sometimes you don't know if you are going to fit in certain environments..facilities are diff..homecare agencies are diff..finding your nitch or match..is not always "perfect" and well the economy is bad also..so sometimes..you have to..quite frankly "suck it up"..

I was told that a ex employer could not answer why you were fired to a potential employer....only whether or not they would rehire you. Anyways all you have to do is gather some awesome reference from maybe a former coworkers, or supervisor that u had a good relationship with heck grab somebody off the street. Then apply somewhere that they are desperate for nurses just to build back up your resume...a nursing home, jail or country rural area. You have to do what you have to do don't be despair take a step back and look this whole thing over again. It looks better on the other side I promise : )

Many companies limit release of only dates of employment, salary and eligibility for rehire as a matter of corporate policy not a matter of law. This is a common misconception

Yea my licence is totally OK. It was just something along those lines of personal conflict, dumb things. In south FL it is SO *******' saturated! I just will be proactive and work towards my BSN, then apply out of state of somewhere else. But thank you for feeling me on this event. I learned the hard way to just suck it up.......................hahaha that is so inappropriate! :roflmao:

But yea really, I am young and new to the professional world. I learned. I am just real annoyed at the current "stuckness" feeling at the moment....

I am kind of proud that I was not a good fit in a low low level southeastern US hospital. Being terminated down in that region should make people respect you more. So how is the job hunt?

It's going... I got an unusually happy call back from an IHS DON at the Zuni reservation in NM. I guess she will hopefully get back to me next week with an update. As far as that, nothing else really. Just alot of applying, handing out fresh resumes and conducting in person appearances etc etc. Everyday. Applied to a few detox facilities today. Looking at jobs near the border of mexico, real desolate areas so far away from modern civilization that I might be able to land. Considering I have 1 year of new grad RN expertise I can afford to be this picky at these extravagantly aloof locations by the Mexican border ya know. (*sarcasm*.....I think I pulled it off haha)

A couple hospitals to look into: St Lukes Medical Ctr in Phoenix, any of the abrazo hospitals in the Phoenix area, and Mountain View (?) in Las Cruces, NM.

Thanks, I am definitely looking into those hospitals once I endorse my license in a few weeks. The only damn thing is that I have t save up to relocate there if I do get a job.......there are no new grad relocation programs anywhere in the US :(

Perhaps it differs from state to state, because it's LAW in Texas, they can only ask specific "yes" or "no" questions, such as "Did The Real Nurse Jackie work for your company as an RN from this day to this day?", "Is she eligible for rehire".. The can ask professional REFERENCES other questions, but not the employer.
