Before you rush off to the pharmacy to get meds filled with side effects, what are some natural grandma remedies do you know of...please share. I'll go first.

For Arthritis pain:

  1. Take a box of golden raisins. (note: they must be the golden variety, sometimes called white raisins, not ordinary black raisins).
  2. Place the raisins in a shallow container.
  3. Cover the raisins with gin.
  4. Let the raisins soak in the gin for a few weeks until the gin evaporates.
  5. You then eat nine of these drunken raisins a day to help your arthritis.

My mom and I use this remedy all the time and it works.

on the topic of my wart

on my thumb...

i've been wearing the duct tape since the day this thread started. the wart doesnt look any different but it is a lot smoother. it is also very, very tender under the tape. i read on one of the links that super glue also works. i think i might try that while i work this weekend. last weekend soo many people were commenting to me "um...why do you have duct tape on your finger?" (like i was nuts, lol)

i've also noticed that now it has this tiny dark spot in it, like a splinter or something. i tried to pick it out today but it wouldnt come out.

i used to work at a little country nursing home in a mountain town in the south. we used maalox around irritated gtubes and it worked like a charm!

i recently told one of our nurses to try it on a patient whose site looked horrible. she thought i had lost my darn mind.

yungins, lol

so do i just keep wearing it until the wart is gone?

it would seem to me that it might be skin cancer.

I found this article on apple cider vineger. I called my mom and asked her about it because i remember grandma always rub her body for pain with this bottle which causes the room to smell foul. But little be known that apple cider vinegar has all these benefits to the body wow!

For weight loss they suggest just take 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, mixed in water 3x a day. I figured i drink water three times a day anyways, so it wont hurt to just dash some vinegar in there. Even if i dont loose weight its still good to the body in other areas.

Hers's the article: http://www.healthrecipes.com/apple_cider_vinegar.htm

I'm loving this thread. Can anyone recommend suggestions for eczema? Besides avoiding dairy products and stressful situations? Thanks in advance :)

Also baking soda paste is good for removing ticks when in the nymph stage. Paint on then let dry, have a hot shower (as hot as you can take it) and watch them drop off. Also lavender oil neat on small burns/scould is great, relieves the pain and prevents any scaring, but only use on supeficial burns!

natural cough suppresant- dark chocolate.

theobromine, an ingredient in dark chocolate, has been found in studies to be more effective than a dose of codeine..but you need a lot of dark chocolate to get the right dosage of theobromine.

I've actually tried this and it seems to work, but only short periods of time. I spent a weekend camping with a bad cough, and I just loaded up on dark chocolate hersheys bars at the gas station on the way to the mountains and munched on them all weekend. at least it tasted better than tussin!!

The spot is possibly blood, yes?

Might it be skin cancer?

The spot is possibly blood, yes?

The spot is blood from blood vessels that are feedind the wart.

Common warts

usually grow on the fingers, around the nails and on the backs of the hands. They are more common where skin has been broken, for example where fingernails are bitten or hangnails picked. These are often called "seed" warts because the blood vessels to the wart produce black dots that look like seeds.

For headaches:

I mix one packet of Goodys Headache Powder in a shot glass (or more if you prefer) of moonshine.

A variation is opening up a Midrin capsule & adding the powder to the previous mix.

I suppose any hard liquor might work if you're not fortunate enough to have a family member with a good, old-fashioned still.

Does anyone else use apple cider vinegar for sunburns? Have to wash with it before you take that 1st bath after the burn, though.
