Before you rush off to the pharmacy to get meds filled with side effects, what are some natural grandma remedies do you know of...please share. I'll go first.

For Arthritis pain:

  1. Take a box of golden raisins. (note: they must be the golden variety, sometimes called white raisins, not ordinary black raisins).
  2. Place the raisins in a shallow container.
  3. Cover the raisins with gin.
  4. Let the raisins soak in the gin for a few weeks until the gin evaporates.
  5. You then eat nine of these drunken raisins a day to help your arthritis.

My mom and I use this remedy all the time and it works.

I have no first hand knowledge of this, but when I was in Belize I was told by our tour guide that the seed pod from a Mahogony tree will cure a foot fungus. Supposedly you soak it in a bucket, then soak your feet in the water. The side effect is that it will stain your feet bright red.

Ok this is going to sound crazy but I Know for a fact it works (my mom told it to me and I thought she was off her rocker...but I tried it and it worked).

For small burns (usually on the fingers) when it happens, immediately place burned area on your earlobe. It takes the sting out immediately and you will not get a blister, I usually hold it there for about 1-2 minutes. Now granted this won't work if you burn your foot (unless you are talented enough to get your foot up there...which I am not) but it works great for burns on your fingers, just grab your earlobe you always have it with you...: !

I'm almost tempted to burn my finger a little to see if this works- I love the odd suggestions!

:chuckle I don't think I would burn my finger on purpose but it really does work..now probably not on a grease burn or something more serious. In my younger days I would be out drinking and smoking cigarettes :smokin: ...well lets just say there was an occasion or two that I would burn my finger on the cigarette and if I put it on my earlobe for a minute or two, no sting, no blister. :wink2:

To treat acne:

Crush regular aspirin (3-6 depending on how many spots you have). Mix with RAW organic honey, and a sprinkle of cinnamon (I use Saigon cinnamon) until it makes a sticky paste. Leave it on about a half hour then rinse. The aspirin and cinnamon calm the inflammation, and the honey is an amazing antibiotic. Just be careful, it is sticky!

Maybe its psychological but I really think this is working!! :yeah:

My teacher at Nursing school told me back in South Africa years ago they would put egg whites on babies bottoms and the start of decubitis ulcers to seal the skin.

They would whip up the egg whites, spread it on and use oxygen to dry it.

Milk is great for burns; even grease burns. It really stops the pain.
