We have to check in M-F regardless. You won't get zinged on a major holiday but you dang well better check in. If there's a lab open somewhere in the universe on the Friday after Thanksgiving, you risk being called. Vacationing on the side of a snow covered mountain in Georgia? Tough, you better find that lab.
In TX, we check in everyday of the week, holidays and all. I have never been selected to test on a holiday. I have only been selected to test one time on a weekend (Saturday), and that was about 9 months into the program. That was back when we used Recovery Trek, prior to Affinity taking over.
Definitely be prepared to test on Monday or any day following a major holiday.
Yep, I'm thinking all of us in Texas are going to be trotting(excuse the Thanksgiving holiday pun) to the lab tomorrow.
Yeah, buddy...wouldn't you know it! And I'm on the other side of the state from where I live. A family member had to drive me 6 miles off the beach side to find a LabCorp. Thaaaaat wasn't a bit humiliating, naaahhh.... it was about that time so I'm not surprised. After all it is random, right? Even the tech at the lab apologized. If it were'nt so pathetic, it would almost be funny.
In Florida IPN you must always check - in, but you don't always have to drop. So, I check in on Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas, etc... I have never had to drop on a holiday. But, I have put in monitoring interruptions weeks in advance of the scheduled vacation and had to drop while on the road. I never 'believe' that a monitoring interruption has been approved. I think it just makes them aware that you aren't going to be in town for group. If I'm in the US, I expect to be selected for testing. I had an easy time finding a testing site while in Johnson City, Tennessee. But, it was snowing and very inconvenient. I always say with regard to IPN, if it's inconvenient, expect it. I scope out every possible testing site between home and my destination now.

So what's the concensus on testing during holidays? Does it happen? Is it difficult to find a testing site?
