Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I just had an interview that was something I have never experienced before. My first interview went really well. This interview was with HR. The HR rep even mentioned to me that she woundnt be surprised if I didnt get 2 offers. She went ahead and scheduled me for 2 interviews and I felt very confident. I did my research and practiced common interview questions. My 1st interview went well, common interview questions. The 2nd interview is my concern. It was too informal. It was a panel of 4 hiring managers. They told me about their floor and their role and asked if I had any questions. That was it! I asked a few and that was it. They did not ask me 1 question other than if I had questions for them. One of the hiring managers even pulled out their cell phone. I was shocked. Please help me understand what this means. It felt like they were just going through the motions, and had in mind who they wanted to hire (certainly not me). Please share your experience or offer any advice. I am new grad and feeling defeated. Thanks

Thank you so much Gooselady, I needed that laugh. As a professional, I would never bring someone into interview and not ask them any questions, even if in the back of my mind, I had the perfect person for the position. That person still showed up to the interview and that is what I am going to give them. The whole experience just rubbed me the wrong way. But I am still grateful for the experience...just sucks because now I do not know what to do better next time. Oh well...back to careerbuilder.

My first thought was 'what kind of dog and pony show is this??'

Really, you wouldn't want to work for such a bunch of unprofessional, disrespectful buttheads anyway. Imagine going to them with a real problem? You are worth something :) You worked hard for your license and your experience, you plan to do your best, you have excellent motivation and energy. These clowns don't strike me as taking their own jobs seriously. The HR person who interviewed you only knows her "HR" end of things. It's so easy to go right into 'what is it about me??' but trust me, let that go. If all of your interviews were like that, then wonder about yourself :)

.

Thank You!! I just needed to read something like this about my own experience. I decided to go for it and apply for a position a second time (with a 1 year rest in between) with a company that i had a not-so good experience the first time...This second time around the quote "Fool me once, shame on you..Fool me twice, shame on me" is so fitting..I will NEVER apply at this company again!

Hey Everyone - I was offered the job. I am very much excited and it was for the cardio floor. Shocked but very happy and grateful!

You mean the job for the second interview where they were acting all disinterested and reading their text messages?

YES! I emailed the recruiter requesting feedback to take along for other interviews. She called me back and said I had 3 offers including the cardiac floor that I wanted! I am still very shocked but look forward to working hard and making them proud that they gave me a chance. I still cannot believe that I was offered the position.

Thank you so much!!! It was an awesome birthday gift!

Wow, crazy! Congrats!

Wow! Congrats!!

I love interviews like yours where they don't ask a lot of questions LOL. And still get the job. :)

I get very nervous on interviews but am a very reliable and capable

worker.

I also got lucky with my interview for my current job. HR asked more questions and unit managers just told me what the unit was like and what to expect in psych. Asked me if I had questions and that was it. Best interview ever :).

Congrats. :)
