I have decided to start a thread for HCC future nurses that are applying for class beginning 2015 of spring. I would like us all to be able to share and relate to one another, while experiencing this exciting moment. I know it may seem a little early but better sooner then later. This will be my last semester before I can apply to the program. I am registered to take micro with lab and humanities fall 2014. I will be able to submit my application in right after my grades are posted. The deadline for the 2015 spring class is June 1st if I am not mistaken. How is everyone else holding up?
Mandy: wow thank you... that sounds like a long and interesting journey. Was your starting pay ok for u or what u expected? Im actually interviewing for a volunteer position at a hospital on Tuesday I hope this gets me in the door.. im worried about applying for an actual job since, ill be starting the program January. I have 3 kids and a fiancé that helps care for the kids. Im working part time at a company I have been with for 7 years. Im comfortable and a bit scared of change.
Lovelylioness: the CPR classss are at night time tho and I already paid for the class online. But its ok because I rather have this one thing out of the way. 26 bucks sounds nice tho compared to my 40$
My starting pay is more than I expected so I'm thrilled :) . It was definitely a long journey, felt like it would never end. But, once it does, you can't believe it's done.
I can completely understand being comfortable. My last day from my old job was Last Friday..I was there for 10 years. I'm nervous for the change, but ready for it. You'll be ready when it's time to be. Puy effort into enjoying nursing as a student though. It's work..it's hard work, but it's so rewarding and the more you enjoy it, the better your clinical days will be.

That is a great way to look at it! Im excited for u.. enjoy ur new job and congratulations on a start to a new career! Yaayyy
I have a question. Are we supposed to see 'nursing application, received' on the hawknet? Thanks!
How and when they update is unclear. It can happen at any time as they process each application. I think that's why they give you the option of sending the self-addressed post card with your app. So they can notify you they received what you sent in with that card. According to the different posts on this site, it's basically a waiting game. So don't fret if you don't see that your Webadvisor isn't updated. You can always try emailing them.
SILVAH24,
I already have a few stethoscopes because I am a Registered Medical Assistant. My latest stethoscope that I will be using is the Littman Lightweight II SE. I got mine from a Nursing store where I use to live, but I also use allheart.com for many uniforms when I was an active Med asst. It is less than 50.00.
Zosan and Yaalisa,As long as you received your post card back use that as your confirmation. Yes the nursing application should say received. For example mine was received 11/22/13 along with my 53.00 app fee and all my transcripts are listed individually.
Okay. Thank you!! I did receive the postcard, and my check has been cleared, but nothing has changed on the website. Well, we can't really do anything other than waiting, so we just wait, wait, and wait....

I was told that HCC prefers you to get the CPR from them. They have a specific website to go to for that. Don't jump the gun too much. The class is $28.00 for students...don't pay that $40 bucks! Class is 4 hours from 6pm to 10pm and your card will be sent to the instructors of the Nursing program to be handed out to you individually. You guys still have a while out so I wouldn't schedule it just yet just in case something changes. http://www.tampatraining.com/training-courses/course-details.cfm?ID=1337 I was given this link personally from someone in the Health Admission Department.
