I have decided to start a thread for HCC future nurses that are applying for class beginning 2015 of spring. I would like us all to be able to share and relate to one another, while experiencing this exciting moment. I know it may seem a little early but better sooner then later. This will be my last semester before I can apply to the program. I am registered to take micro with lab and humanities fall 2014. I will be able to submit my application in right after my grades are posted. The deadline for the 2015 spring class is June 1st if I am not mistaken. How is everyone else holding up?
Well in my documents I dont see my high school transcript still I see my college from 2010 they have on file still. Nothing updated tho. Im not worried
I hope you get an update soon. When did you hand in your app? Did you have your high school transcript sent to HCC or did you include it with your app?
Well, I had sent an email this morning asking for confirmation of receipt of the transcript that the college sent. I saw the transcript updated in Webadvisor later today. It was the only one updated, though.
Who did you email? I'd like to find out about the one they received on Wednesday this week, that they tell me they don't have.

I acknowledged that I received the postcard stating they received my mailed in application but told them that my one transcript was sent from the school so I just wanted confirmation they received it.
Hi all! I have been accepted into the 2014 Fall program. I have been glancing at some things in here. It's so hard to keep up on these forums. I can just tell you a few things that I did and hope it will help some of you out or ease some of your worries. I had to request my transcripts for a second time even though HCC already had them. I requested from my high school, institute for medical assisting, and South University because I transferred into HCC last August. Even though my credits from Medical Assisting did NOT count. I was told to send every school I went too. I gave myself a month and a half before the deadline to request everything to be sent to my home address as official and then I joined those three with my application and receipt of application fee. I paid for my app fee at the bursar office and put the receipt in the envelope. I put in a manilla envelope and sent certified with a receipt. I was able to follow the tracking number and it showed when it was delivered. I have a certificate in RMA and phlebotomy. I made sure I put those down as well. My phlebotomy certificate actually expired the same week I sent it to them, but I figured I would give it to them anyway and if they needed additional information then they would contact me. I didn't want to be last minute. Although no application is reviewed until after the deadline which in my case was January 1st. I saw someone speak about lower GPA's. Don't get discouraged because you never know. I did however hear that the average GPA is always lower for the Spring applicants than for the Fall. FYI the average for Fall of 2014 was 3.766 so I had some tough competition. Long story short I was classified as an alternate with a GPA of 3.67. I was shocked and didn't understand when someone in my online class got in with the same GPA. If there is a tie they will look at your overall GPA. Her overall was way lower than mine and she still got in. I appealed their decision and asked them to look at my GPA again. They did and denied it without explanation. I was very upset and figured it was worth a try. That Thursday May 1st I received my denial letter. So I just decided to graduate the following day with my AA and leave it up to God. I was told there are a lot of people who don't go on with the program due to family emergencies, pregnancies, some don't pass drug screens, and some use HCC as a secondary application. When I came home from graduation, my son grabbed the mail later that day and there was a thick envelope from HCC Health Admissions office. I said something's gotta be good in here. I took a deep breath and there it was. You have been accepted into the nursing program...please accept on decline this by May 13th. I sighed with relief and I just said thank you Lord. So let me just say that anything is possible when you leave it in God's hands and stop worrying. My only advice is when you are an alternate you need to be alert because you never know when you will get that acceptance letter and how much time you will have to complete what is asked of you in so little time. If you DO NOT make in to the mandatory 2 day orientation you are immediately out. So there are still alternates that could make it into my program. I also figured that if I had the same GPA as the girl in my class and I didn't get in..I had to be somewhere on top of the list..so that was kind of a guideline. I was also so stressed out that I was contacting HCC Health department asking where I stood as an alternate. All they told me is you are in line by your GPA and that's all. As many other questions I asked they WILL NOT give you answer further information, so you are left basically hanging which is very annoying. I'm sorry this is so long, but I wanted to give you all insight on my experience thus far. I hope this eases many of your worries. I will try to keep you guys informed. I have been in touch with a couple of you on here from previous posts. Feel free to ask me any questions and like I told SILVACH24 I will keep you guys updated with anything I hear from my orientation in July. If I don't respond by at least July 5th someone reach out to me for a reminder. I wish you all much success and just relax and let it takes its course. I know you are all anxious yet nervous same here, but it will be okay. Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

I received the self addressed postcard in the mail so they received my application. They just updated my Webadvisor with the mailed transcript from the school, so they have everything. Now, to set this aside and concentrate on classes.
