I have decided to start a thread for HCC future nurses that are applying for class beginning 2015 of spring. I would like us all to be able to share and relate to one another, while experiencing this exciting moment. I know it may seem a little early but better sooner then later. This will be my last semester before I can apply to the program. I am registered to take micro with lab and humanities fall 2014. I will be able to submit my application in right after my grades are posted. The deadline for the 2015 spring class is June 1st if I am not mistaken. How is everyone else holding up?

Ok guys I just got off the phone with a lady named Pamela at the nursing department, phone number (813) 253-7268

I told her I had turned in the old application and if the new one was required and yes abruptly told me "YES!".

So I am on my way to drop off the new updated nursing application.

Pamela is the nursing assistant to the Director I spoke to her and I know her, she is always busy and sometimes her answer might not be accurate so it depends on how you asked her and she always referred me to the nursing advisor, KW, who is in charge of most of the questions handled and the person who knows the actual stuff told me not to worry about the application you have submitted because it all has the same info. I submitted an old app. it should be fine. But if you feel the need to submit a new app makes no difference!! u can still do it!

There is a lot of info out there and I know it is hard to find the right person to talk to, but the advisor is Dead-on person to talk to she has all the info and she is the actual nursing advisor..

Leroy,

There is a lot of confusing info....

Thank you so much for answering me, I was getting my daughter ready to drive all the way out there (45min) and drop it off. I was thinking It doesn't really make ANY sense to have changed it so close to the application deadline.

I asked Pamela this exact question.

"Hi, I recently submitted the old Nursing application , do we need to re-submit the new one for the Spring 2015 entry".

She cut me off mid sentence and said "YES!".

So you could see why I was panicking, I am not this paranoid freak, and I certainly don't want to scare anyone else on the thread. I just wanted to let everyone know what I was told.

Your information however certainly precedes mine so like I said , I am going to let it go and save myself the 45min trip out there.

Thanks Leroy

Sorry.....:banghead:

No I wasn't trying to blame you for confusion or something...I know it is hard to get info I for one would have done the same.. Don't be sorry..it is just hard to have info..I know the feeling.. but honestly don't worry if you're right now...things will work out.. N i don't think u did anything wrong u did what was right. Save the trip if u still have doubt i will give u the advisors email n u can email n ask her...just PM me n I will give u don't want to ad. it around..u r good Julia don't feel bad!!

Wish I could join you guys in applying. I have a 3.0 GPA. I slacked off and got most Bs in my pre-reqs with one C in college algebra and the rest As (labs and A&P2) not sure what to do or where to apply. I have already finished my A.A.from HCC and am lost. Really wish I did not slack off -__- Good luck to all of you

Try the LPN-RN bridge if you still interested..don't lose hope there is still a chance...try erwin for LPN,,if u want something badly u can always find a way to reach there :)

The only hard thing with Erwin/Brewster LPN is that it goes through the summer I believe. Kinda hard if you have kids (as they are out of school) atleast, it is for me due to a special needs son. But! if you have a more flexible schedule its definitely a good option if you are kinda stuck.

Getting my app together finally, I've been procrastinating. If I applied for Fall, I still need to include the application fee again for spring right? Just double checking. Some schools have one time app fees.

I agree about double checking. I would check and check untill I feel good. That is exactly y I included a copy of my old college and high school transcripts, even though it was required to start HCC already 4 years ago. I still did it, for peace at mind. I feel good also about turning in my app. Im just excited for that day I get my acceptance letter in the mail, then take a picture and post it on Facebook! Im super excited. I know by 2020 80% of nurses will be required to have their bachelor's degree. But we all can just transfer and do it online. Does anyone feel a facility in a hospital setting will still hire an ASN if we inform them we are working on a BSN. I would like to apply to a preferred BSN job and let them know I am working on my BSN in hopes I will be selected. :/ im just concerned with finding a job afterwards ya know.

Don't worry about finding a job. I'm sure a hospital would hire if you were working on the BSN. But if it's too hard to find a job at a hospital, you could always work at an ALF or home health until graduating. I know a ton of nurses with their associates degree and they find jobs way too easy. :)

Just put the check don't staple it and put all in the big envelope:up:

This stupid app on my phone wasn't working but I already turned it in lol I put the check in an envelope and stapled it to the application and then put it in the big one... oops, how it doesn't matter. I was just being a little ocd lol

I think that's a great plan. Some people worry that a hospital won't accept them if the only experience they have is LTC, but that has to look better than looking for a hospital job for 6+ months with no experience at all.

I know they has 3 weeks off during june-july..this option would be good for people having trouble with getting into RN school...
