I have decided to start a thread for HCC future nurses that are applying for class beginning 2015 of spring. I would like us all to be able to share and relate to one another, while experiencing this exciting moment. I know it may seem a little early but better sooner then later. This will be my last semester before I can apply to the program. I am registered to take micro with lab and humanities fall 2014. I will be able to submit my application in right after my grades are posted. The deadline for the 2015 spring class is June 1st if I am not mistaken. How is everyone else holding up?

Good Luck on getting into USF. I was told by an advisor if I could get my classes back up to a 3.8 I can skip over RN portion. I could go straight to USF for my BSN. I knew it was impossible because Statistics brought me down so I am just going to continue with HCC like planned then head to USF for BSN. I had an old classmate go to their last Nursing session and she said the way they spoke was like no one was getting in there with less than a 3.8. She said they made her feel so stupid. Good Luck though you never know.

They should be able to send to your house. It still is considered an official transcript as long as you don't open it. I had all 3 of mine sent out twice from New Jersey. The first time I had them send to HCC and they couldn't find them. The second time I requested them to be sent to my home and they had no problem with it. I told them I wanted to hand it to them personally to avoid anymore confusion. They understood completely. My one school told me it would take the same amount of time that yours told you and then I had it by the end of the week. They rushed it for me even though I was told they wouldn't. Call again and tell them your situation...maybe they will help you out. Everything will work out for you.

Thanks very much. I'm volunteering at a hospital now and I was talking to couple nursing and they told me to increase my chances of getting hired after work is if I work at the hospital, doesn't matter what position as long I got my my foot in the door they'll hire me when I graduate. And who know while your in school they make help you with your tuition. So I'm planing to go for a CNA. Go to school/ work as CNA/get experience/ get a job after graduation. Sound like the best route to me to secure a job :) also I haven't send my essay yet still working on it. Got till May 1st. It would be nice to get another opinion on it if u don't mind.

P.s u can give me your email if you want to tell u which professor to take.

Ok yes sounds greats! My email is [email protected] and that is really good.. I want to try to get a pt position at a hospital but the thing is I have it so good at my current job. I been there 8 years. I have FMLA for my son and myself so I can call out without having points against me if I need to study. And there schedule is soooo flexible. I get 4 weeks paid vacation every year. Im spoiled. But its a call center for technical support. Its stressful but like I said. I get grest benefits. Its a gamble for me. Do I leave and work part time and learn something new. Or do I stay and build relationship and history with my current job, and once I do become a nurse I can apply somewhere and show how loyal and stable I am in a work environment. Ya know. Its so hard to choose. I have a surgical technology diploma. I got it 8 and a half years ago. But no one hired me. I was so young and inexperienced with work... then I landed my job I have now. I needed money, this was my first full time job.

Hello everone, ok so update fro the fall 2014 group. I was told we may want to start looking at getting our cpr license now, and also around july I will have an immunizations form for us to look at so for those that dont have insurance will be able to have an idea of what prices they will be looking at depending on the facility u go to and the price for that specific vaccine. The orientation once we go is a full 2 days. And is from 730am untill 430pm so be ready for loooonngg orientations. They are mandatory btw. So be sure to clear ur day for the days we are assigned. Any questions let me know and I will do my best to find out .. and if anyone can add any info would be awesome

I would like to clarify something, I checked st Joseph and online they charge 35$, it was free a few years ago, I guess it's changed. But thats not bad at all. U can actually register online for the class or u can call 813-615-0589 and make an apt. U can take the infant and adult cpr together., im going to take both. I will make my apt tomorrow when their offices open.

Is there special CPR class for the health professionals? HCC offers CPR classes on Ybor(I think), and there are normal CPR and CPR for health professionals. Is the one at st Joseph or red cross fine for the nursing students? Thanks!

My husband was hospitalized recently. The nurse he had was a fresh graduate from Spc. He said he was a tech(CNA, I believe)while he was in the program, and that allowed him to start at the hospital where he wanted to work. I was reading a CNA website yesterday....So I am guessing you can become a CNA just by taking a test??

Yes that is correct. U basically challenge the test as an educated citizen. Once u pass then your in!

Hey Malashker,

Seriously don't stress if you don't make it directly into USF. I personally think HCC is the better choice. If you get your AA as well then after you graduate with your RN then you can go right into USF for only a yr and get your bachelor's.

:)

Wait what? A yr? What program? I thought it was a 5 semester online course for bsn?

Great news EVERYONE! Please proceed to the front of the thread, creaters entry, and select which is your top choice for classes!

I think it depends on how much you want to do as you work as an RN. You have to get 30 nursing credits plus all the pre-reqs for USF nursing and languages as well. (Humanities and other non-nursing classes should be fine with an AA degree)
