I have decided to start a thread for HCC future nurses that are applying for class beginning 2015 of spring. I would like us all to be able to share and relate to one another, while experiencing this exciting moment. I know it may seem a little early but better sooner then later. This will be my last semester before I can apply to the program. I am registered to take micro with lab and humanities fall 2014. I will be able to submit my application in right after my grades are posted. The deadline for the 2015 spring class is June 1st if I am not mistaken. How is everyone else holding up?
Looks like I may not be considered this Spring. I'm handing in my app probably next week but I'm still waiting for my transcript from the last school I attended for my sciences. I just received my final grades last week and requested to have the transcript sent to me. I found out yesterday that they will only send an official transcript to the school so I did another request. However, I was told it could take up to 2 weeks just to process the request...then another to actually receive the transcript via mail and there's no rushing the process. Like I said, I'm still turning in my app but as of now, last week's request is still showing pending so who knows if it will make it in time. Ugh! Bad for me but good for someone else, I guess.

you will make it on time..we still have time before June 1st..try going to the school and asking them to maybe print out an official and you can wait on it..just a suggestion. Don't lose hope!!!
The college is out of town so picking up the transcript isn't possible. I will call HCC and see if there's anything that can be done.
Im sorry that sucks... but dont give up hope... keep strong and if by chance u get at ur house before june 1st, just fill out another app and check of 53$ if u know u will get in with ur gpa, and turn it in again. I would if I was in ur place. The extra 53 bucks would be worth it to me if I was certain my gpa is a for sure get in.
Hey everyone, I'm new to this site. I plan to apply to nursing this month to HCC and USF. My GPA for is HCC is 3.96. But my first choice is usf because they have a bachelor program, but my GPA is only like 3.53, so I'm banking on my essay to get me in(even though its not that great). What suck is that usf only factors the first time attempts of classes. For example, they want one chemistry course but your first attempt one. So for example, my first college year in modern chem I got C but in Chem I and II/orgo I and II/ biochem I achieved As, but they'll only take modern chem:( oh well I looks like I'm going to HCC, which is great but what worries me is I been researching and a lot of hospital want student get their BSN before taking them. Anybody worried about this?
sorry about the rant and grammar mistakes, was writing this from my phone.

This was my concern also about the hospitals.. but u can transfer right into usf after. Its a part time all online program, so u can work while attending school. Good thing about this is.... we can get employed else where like nursing home, travel nurse, home nurse, clinics, and even work for a private practice doctor. Tjey may pay us less, but this will allow us to gain experience while we are in school so when we do graduate usf, we will have the 1yr or 2 yr experience that the hospitals are looking for. As for me, I told my fiancé we may need to relocate the family for a better job opportunity. But we will cross that bridge when we get t it :) stay focused and positive. A 3.5 may not sound great but I wish u luck in getting into USF this time around. A strong essay is very important. I good at writing, if I would have known u were writing an essay I would have volunteered to proof read it for u.. best of luck on ur acceptance into usf..... ~~☆★~~ sending acceptance dust your way
Thanks very much. I'm volunteering at a hospital now and I was talking to couple nursing and they told me to increase my chances of getting hired after work is if I work at the hospital, doesn't matter what position as long I got my my foot in the door they'll hire me when I graduate. And who know while your in school they make help you with your tuition. So I'm planing to go for a CNA. Go to school/ work as CNA/get experience/ get a job after graduation. Sound like the best route to me to secure a job :) also I haven't send my essay yet still working on it. Got till May 1st. It would be nice to get another opinion on it if u don't mind.
P.s u can give me your email if you want to tell u which professor to take.

3.96 is a great pre-req GPA..but don't worry about finding a job later on..you can jump right into the BSN program just like SILVACH said..usf and Hcc have a contract..if not you can go to SPC or even do it online later on..meanwhile you will get the experience needed..u gonna do fine..hang in there don't worry about usf!!! :)
