Hello all,

I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!

I've taken all req'd BSN prereqs, though not at HCC or USF. If I can offer one piece of advice about

Statistics... take it online. I did and prior to starting the course I was actually scared of how I'd do. Thanks to the instructional system within the class (Not sure if HCC uses it but we had something online called MyMathLab) -- I literally walked out of the class with a 98%.

My point... MyMathLab worked for me, and if HCC has it, it can work for you too.

Wow, finally!! All 6 of my documents are showing as received!!!!!

All of my Docs were finally marked as received and my transfer credits were on my transcript (only been waiting since 2008). Now I have to go to the records office to prove I am a resident even though I was a student last Fall. It's always something you have to redo.

Check out your Progress Towards Degrees plan and see if your prerequisites and GPA were entered correctly. Something was done right on mine so I am good to go - a HUGE relief!

I didn't even think to check my Progress Towards Degree. Mine always said Non Degree Seeking because I already have a BA and I started wondering lately if I had to go in and change my degree plan to Nursing but apparently they did it for me since now it has the options for Applicant/ADN Basic and PreNursing/ ADN Basic.

I had a transfer credit from a different university for college algebra which I took and submitted my transcript in 2010 and they never updated it but when I checked today it was finally updated so they all say Complete :)

So I just checked the mail and got something from the HCC Health Sciences Department in a big manila envelope. Immediately I was thinking, what is this?

Then I opened it to find 4 of the paper transcripts I sent with my application, along with a label that said "Please keep this transcript for your records. You previously submitted transcripts to HCC. The Health Sciences Department has access to those records."

So apparently even if it doesn't show up in Hawknet yet for you, they are still up to speed with everyone.

Regardless, this was a bit of a bummer to get an envelope from them only to have the news be just neutral vs. positive. Oh well.

At least you had a note. I just got home from vacation yesterday and got a envelope from HCC and it was my HCC transcript I sent to them to make sure they had everything... No note for me but I do know that they have my stuff!

Hi everyone,

I am so glad I found this thread! I have completed all my prerequisites at the Dale Mabry campus and ended up with a 3.78 GPA. I was originally hoping for DM nights/weekends so I could continue working, but now I am on the fence...not sure that I would be able to work full-time and complete the program if I am accepted! I live in New Tampa, so it looks like the Plant City campus is actually almost the same distance from me as DM is...if anyone else is planning on working while in the program I would love to hear your thoughts on making it work. Good luck to all, keeping my fingers crossed until September!!!

I am planning on DM daytime class. I also live in New Tampa. I think Plant City would be a Pain in the butt if there are accidents on I4.

So jealous of the fall 2012 class. I can't wait to get started. I am all tweaky and itchy to get going again now that all my prereqs are done. Anyone else feeling that way lately?

Of course... it's no fun waiting when you can't really do anything to make things progress... :D

I just want to do something. I will be happy when fall starts and at least I have some challenge again.

I think the best thing to do is refresh ourselves on the A&P material because i'm sure we'll see it again.

That is my plan come Fall semester. Right now I am wrapping up 6 credits of summer semester at the end of this month! Fall I'll only have 3 so I will have more A&P time. :D

Has anyone done a "Progress Toward Degree Recs" for Applicant for Basic program recently and had the nursing classes listed at the bottom? I think it is new because I don't remember seeing it there last time I ran it. This is taking so long to find out!
