Hello,
I plan to attend to HCC's 2013 fall evening nursing program (applying in Jan). I am curious to see what people people's GPA is going in. I hear spring's is lower than fall's.
Thanks!
What campus is everyone looking for. I am hoping for SouthShore. Does anyone know which hospitals are used for clinicals?
Hospital assignments depend on your campus and time of class. In fall DM NW had choice of TGH, St Joes, and Florida Hospital Carrollwood. Other classes went to Plant City, Brandon, South Bay, and some of the same hospitals we went to. You'll likely have a couple hospitals to choose from.
I can't get in either. They must be working on it. If it was changed we would have been notified it was changing. But then again, you never know. Just sayinnever quite sure.
ok...just got scared that something was wrong with my profile- revoked or something because of no class registration for fall...a little far fetched, I know, but after the fa suspension, I've been anxious about things. I'm really hoping that all works out well with no delays or I will be in trouble- can't pay out of pocket for classes AND books.
On another note, does anyone know how we will be notified of campus assignments- mail or email?
I talked to someone at HCC today regarding a question I had on the immunizations (not allowed to say who, but they knew what they were doing). She sent me the form for the physical and immunizations. They are giving the same form out at orientation. Because I am paying out of pocket for a lot of this stuff, I am looking for the least expensive way of going about things. A member of the Fall 2012 thread posted about a lab he found on-line that you can get your titers for much cheaper. Go to this website if you are interested https://gads.mdlabtests.com...click on Locate a Lab to find one near you and click on Buy Tests, then choose Nursing|Med Student Tests, and you will see the whole list of titers that you can order. If you are confident that you have had all the immunizations that are req'd, but cannot get your record, you can order a titer panel that tests for everything. However, according to the lady I spoke with, you have to get a new DTAP and TB, regardless. I had chicken pox as a child and am going to order the varicella titer- it is $41...the Health Dept. wants $94. I had MMR as a child, and although my shot records are fossils, they STILL have them...I just filled out a form that I found on the County School District website and sent it in with $2 per copy. The rest of the req'd immunizations, I am getting at the Health Department - DTAP $46, TB $20, Hep A & B $66 x 3 (these are spread out, 2nd is one month after the 1st and the 3rd is at least 5 months after the 2nd). If anyone knows of where they are cheaper, please post. I am planning to get my physical there as well...I think they said it was $65.
Sorry for such a long post...I worked on this a great deal, and wanted to share in case anyone else is in my position- having to pay out of pocket. I reduced my original cost by $200, so it was worth the work. The difference covered the cost of my scrubs, shoes, watch and stethoscope.
If any of you want the form, message me your e-mail and I will send it to you.

Yes, I have started the calculations and I am going to start reviewing A&P soon. This past month went by so fast. Won't be long until we all meet up at orientation. I wish we would get out campus assignments.
