Hillsborough Community College Fall 2017

Published

Is anyone else planning on applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program? I know it is really early, but I am just too excited. I want other people to share my excitement with!! :)

So the CLEP, does that mean if you pass it it's an automatic A? I was thinking about taking it for Spanish but not really sure how the CLEP works.

Yea, I mean, it's either full credit or no credit. But I'm not entirely sure how it affects everything grade-wise to be honest. Some schools have grade equivalency for your score. Can vary.

It's more like getting AP credit where you have the credit, but don't really have a grade in the course. I'd be pissed if all I got was a C. I mean, I got a high B grade on the CLEP exam anyway.

Soo.... I'm a little confused with my GPA.

In WebAdvisor under "Progress Towards Degree"- if I click on "AS.APPL.NURB A.S. - Applicant / A.D.N. Basic", it shows my GPA as 3.5.

When I choose "A.S. - PreNursing/ADN Basic (AS.PRE.NURSE.BASIC)" it shows my prereq GPA as 3.571.

Entering my grades manually gives me a 3.571 as well.

I emailed an advisor for some clarification and was told "GPA is calculated based off of the 21 pre-req grades".

No explanation about why it's showing 3.5 and not 3.571.

Yeah, I'm a bit annoyed at the moment.

Mine is showing the same. Only my overall GPA.

CLEP will not count towards GPA. It only counts towards the credits for the class chosen. I CLEP Spanish for the foreign language requirements and never had a "grade" per se; only the full credit earned (I passed with the maximum score and earned the equivalent to 2 semesters of Spanish)

That's what I was planning on doing-CLEP Spanish, but I'm waiting on hearing back from USF to see if they'll take my Spanish high school credits (I was living in PR from 9th to 11th grade). Someone said it'd count, someone else said to just CLEP it.

Hi, I dropped off my Fall 2017 application and am so anxious! My GPA was 3.6 for pre-req and 81 on the TEAS. Good luck to everyone, I am so nervous.

Hey everyone, I had a quick question. Did anyone else take microbiology at a different college than HCC?

I took mine in NC

I took mine online through Johns Hopkins (hated the virtual lab)!

By any chance did anyone take classes on Portage learning that transferred to HCC?
