Hillsborough Community College-Fall 2014

Published

Hello everyone,

So my dream since I can remember has been to become a nurse; however, it seems as if it will never happen. I recently finished my pre-requisite courses to apply to the fall semester of the HCC nursing program. While I did not get any C's I made mostly B's :blink:earning A's in two classes and one lab. I realize this is not good enough since it puts my GPA at around a 3.38. Since I did not fail any of my classes, I don't believe I will be able to retake them. Is there any possible way to retake them? Or any way to increase my GPA since they mainly look at the pre-requisite courses? If not, what other options do I have for becoming a nurse? If anyone is out there who could offer any help it would be greatly appreciated. I will submit my application regardless but I don't have any high hopes of getting accepted, if there is anyway to increase my chances I would be so grateful to find out!

Is it April yet? I have taken all my co-requisites so I am literally twiddling my thumbs until August. I have NO classes this semester, so I am going to pick up books as soon as this acceptance letter (hopefully) comes in! Thinking about maybe taking the CNA course so I can start working in a hospital, hopefully making it easier to transition into a position where they can hire me when I graduate, but I am not sure if I will be able to handle the Nursing program and working at the same time...luckily my husband works and I have just been going to school, so I have the luxury to not have to work, but I am going stir crazy not going to school right now....to work while in the program or just concentrate on the program, that is the question....:bored:

Maybe you could get a used Meg Surg book and start reading it. You could try the library. I plan to start studying dosage calculation.

I know ! IS IT April yet? I'm so anxious to get any kind of response. I have classes now to occupy my time with, but I feel like I am twiddling my thumbs a bit.

and don't worry @cane, you have an amazing GPA! I definitely think you will get accepted, is your first choice Dale Mabry? Did you get all your shots already too?

Dale Mabry days is my first choice, and I did not get my shots yet. I would like to know more about the "shots."

Right it would be better to learn more about the vaccinations first. Is April the soonest we will hear back?

I sounds like it from what I have read on here.

I'm a NP I student, I have the immunizations forms, send me a PM with your emai and I email it to you guys, GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!

Guy ! It's really nice to have somewhere to communicate and at least ease some of our anxieties together lol thankfully my documents are all received so I don't have to be worried. @Rahma_SN, I'm sure they will have everything good to go soon for you ! All thats left now is to sit and wait :sarcastic: and try and hope for the best ![/quote']

Hi ... I was curious did you have to include your high school transcripts or didnHCC already have it. Because the advisor at the brandon campus told me they have my high school and my sandford brown transcripts also. I just want to make sure that when I apply in may that I have everything. I dont want to get rejected because some lady saysbthe school has it but yet I dont get in because I didnt submit it with my application

I'm getting more and more anxious as time goes by! I know the cutoff for last semester was 3.4-3.5ish and almost (if not all) of the alternates got in. I hope that doesn't change much this semester!!

Hi, I was an applicant for both Spring 2013 and Fall 2013 at HCC. Denied for Spring due to a transcript issue but waitlisted for Fall due to my 3.52. I personally won't be applying again until 2015 but wanted to share, if it helps for your perspectives.

Fall floor GPA is higher than Springs though, I will tell you that based on experience.

Good luck to all.

You hear nothing from them unless you send a SASP which they'll send back to you merely to confirm that they've received your materials. 3 months of silence until you get a letter.
