Hello everyone,
So my dream since I can remember has been to become a nurse; however, it seems as if it will never happen. I recently finished my pre-requisite courses to apply to the fall semester of the HCC nursing program. While I did not get any C's I made mostly B's :blink:earning A's in two classes and one lab. I realize this is not good enough since it puts my GPA at around a 3.38. Since I did not fail any of my classes, I don't believe I will be able to retake them. Is there any possible way to retake them? Or any way to increase my GPA since they mainly look at the pre-requisite courses? If not, what other options do I have for becoming a nurse? If anyone is out there who could offer any help it would be greatly appreciated. I will submit my application regardless but I don't have any high hopes of getting accepted, if there is anyway to increase my chances I would be so grateful to find out!
HCC only looks at the overall GPA for the pre requisite classes for nursing. Even if you have taken other courses they do not take them into account, that's what my advisor said. To the OP, I went to South University to speak about their program and I had such a bad experience. Extremely rude and the lady I spoke with was speaking down to me cause I didn't have all of "their" requirements. I will be attending Galen College of Nursing in St Pete in July. Their school is beautiful!! State of the art and all the staff are sweethearts. It is a private college so a little pricey but it's for ADN, they do give credit for classes you've already taken also. But for now I'm still at HCC finishing up Spring semester!

10roshni,
Yes I sent it before Christmas and it was just a couple of days ago the all my documents read "recieved", before that, it would say "pending" on the documents that I figured they had not received yet. I would not worry if I were you, especially since you're transferring, it may take a little longer. I hate the wait so much ! lol
@cane,
Honestly I'm really on my toes for a response but I am currently taking other classes at HCC, I am currently enrolled in Chem for Health Sciences, Clinical Psychology and Pre-Calculus, so they keep me pretty occupied. What about you?
Hello Everyone!
I'm so glad I'm not the only one biting my nails waiting.
On "My Documents" I have two not received documents. One is my HCC regular application (not the one for nursing) and my nursing pre-requisites. I know those are both in because well I already got an email that I was accepted as an HCC student (by the way I'm new to HCC) and I already talked to an advisor and she saw my transcript with the classes that transferred. Should I call someone about to just to make sure? I just don't know who! Please Help
Thanks and it's nice to meet you all! ")
Hello all!
I'm glad I'm not the only one biting there nails waiting for just any update on our applications. If there is missing documents found under the "My Documents" who would I contact to ask about that issue? Also, I'm curious to know what is everyone's plan if they do get accepted into the nursing program. For example, will you be working and going to school full time?
Good luck to everyone!:)
There is no way to check on the application status, but if you have pertinent information that they might need, you can email them at [email protected].
I will try to work as much as I can, but I will not if I can not.
Hey guys NP1 student here. Just wanted to wish you guys good luck and tell you that the most important thing you can do right now is study critical thinking. Pick up some nclex review and critical thinking skills books as all your tests will be in this format. Also,the earlier you can get to getting your vaccines,american Red Cross CPR certification the better. A lot of people leave t last minute and then are not allowed into the clinical sites. Finally, your first few weeks will be focusing on vital signs,infection prevention and clinical calculations so if you can read up in that that will help you also. About one week after orientation you will start receiving your professors info and reading assignments and it won't stop after that so it's good to be prepared. Anyways,I've already talked a lot but if you have any questions let me know.

It just depends on the circumstances. I am sure you will be fine ^^. Everyone has to wait their period. Enjoy the free time you have before everything starts to go crazy when everyone start getting letters.
