Hello all HCC Fall 2011 hopefuls! I have been following the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 threads and thought maybe it was time to start Fall 2011 now that the application process has started.
I just turned my application in this past week and received my confirmation notice in the mail. Anyone else out there that has turned in their application?
What are your plans over the next 8 months to prepare for the first semester (provided we get in)?
hi eyoung...my last three colleges were st pete college, bronx community and lehman college. at BCC i had my A&P I lecture and lab credits but they were from 2001. i'm antsy about HCC dismissing them as too far back to count, if that makes sense? lol...also, SPC doesn't accept HCC's micro b/c a friend of mine had to retake the class when she transferred to HCC to take prereqs for their bridge program.
with march being one of the longest months of the year, they're really setting us up for torture! gah

Isn't that SO annoying? I was going to take HCC's micro, but with it only be a 1000 level course, SCF wouldn't accept it because their prerequisite was a 2000 level micro. That's why I took it at SCF, because HCC said they would honor it (and it would satisfy two school's prerequisites). I don't think it matters about when you've taken the courses. Some of my prerequisites were also taken ten years ago, English and math (my lowest grades!).
What's going on with all of your "progress towards degree?" Mine doesn't have any of my transfer credits included, nor are my transcripts including my other college's credits/classes. I'm hoping this truly means that they've not yet evaluated my transcripts, which is why it still says "nursing prereqs" not received.

Ok whew, glad you told me that re: how old the classes were. That's one less thing to worry about. My progress towards degree as of today shows zilch as far as updates. All it's telling me is Not Started//credits not met or something like that. Also no change w/ my Transcripts section, which is blank. I checked Facts.org and nothing is loaded on there yet either. I think you're right, they haven't evaluated or are just getting around to it. I wonder if they'll send an email letting us know the evaluations have been done/completed, would be great if we got system generated message at every step along the way from this point on.
I tried to find out if we would receive a confirmation once they've evaluated our transcripts, but no one has answered me. Basically, the only answer I've received was that it could take up to 8 weeks after the application deadline date to evaluated all of the paperwork (a week from this Saturday). I think those of us who have gone to a few different colleges were put in a "let's save the worst for last" pile. And I don't mean worst as in bad students, simply the biggest workload. We're the ones they cringe at when they feel the thickness of our application package! I sent along four transcripts (one was HCC's) in my package, even though all of my prerequisites were taken at only two colleges, SCF and HCC.
3 different colleges for me, one with two sets of transcripts. So if they put the most difficult to evaluate at the bottom of the pile, I will probably be very last to know.

Don't stress Shamanai, you have the GPA so you will get in. Don't worry, be happy before you really have to start worrying about the 2 year grind of the nursing program..fall will come faster than you think.
Okay, I have resulted to stalking my mail carrier, pathetic, I know. I know they have said end of March, beginning of April but I can't help but wonder if that is just so we will stop calling them. The Fall 2010 class got their letters March 7-9th (yes, I stalked that forum to find that out...lol) I am so anxious!!! I hope it's soon!!!:icon_roll

I am totally with you! I stalked and even commented all through out their posts! I just really like we're going to get it this upcoming week. If we don't then maybe they're serious about end of March. I can't even stalk the post man because i live in a different place then where my mail goes to... a mere 5 min away but still. I'm sure we'll all be hearing some good new soon

i am completely with you both! i am starting to get more and more anxious... knowing this is the week they found out last year. everyone cross their fingers and toes and let's hope they come soon!!!!!!! good luck to all!!

Me too!!! I can hear the mail man coming down the street as he accelerates and stops over and over again. By the time he makes it to my house either myself or my husband are their to greet him. I can't wait to find out!
