Hillsborough Community College Fall 2010

Published

hello! i just joined this lovely and informative site after lurking for a few weeks. i'm planning to apply for the program after this fall semester. (need to finish a&pII and college algebra).

who else?! :)

edit: can someone walk me through the application process? i know it's pretty easy, but i like knowing 100%! i'm not sure if an adviser would help me much. i know you need high school transcripts, an hcc application and a nursing application. then you just gather all the papers (including money?) in like a.... manila envelope and mail away? or can you electronically send your high school transcripts to them? thank you.

Just emailed the prof to see what other supplemental books to purchase. I've decided to purchase the NCLEX review book and, if no other definitive recommendations are given, that will be all. Also, the DM campus finally has the Well Elderly books if anyone else needs them.

Keenblondie, can you please tell me what the specific title of the book that you refer to as the "Nursing Diagnoses book" is? I don't see anything that fits that description on our list of supplemental materials. Is this it (listed in required on the current syllabus):

Nurse's pocket Guide: Diagnoses, Prioritized Interventions, and Rationales. 12th Ed.Philadelphia: F.A. Davis Company.

Tebyrd,

That's the correct book. I would suggest the Saunders NCLEX Review guide.

Hi everyone!

Yes...left arm (2 inches from the shoulder seam) on the patches. The link IS broken to the nursing handbook...frustrating. Yes, we need a stetho, bandage scissor, pen light, and of course the name pin, ID badge, etc...

Dale Mabry campus was out of the Well Elder Care Plan yesterday...good to know they have more now, thanks Tebyrd!

Has anyone been able to complete the Baycare Hospital Orientation successfully?? I have just wasted 2 hours of my time just to have the system LOCK UP! No tech support available... You have to complete it in ONE SITTING..and if it locks up, you have to start over at the BEGINNING!!:mad::mad:

I am still fighting to get thru the reading assignments for the first day...anyone else??

I know this will all be okay, but I am still stressing WAY too much!

Tebyrd,

I didn't see your message about the Well Elder care plans...great to know that they have some in again!! (They were out yesterday).

Hope all is well with you!! :)

Nickdost, I completed the Baycare Orientation. I had no problem with it. It worked just fine.

Our class does not have a reading assignment in PerryPotter.

But we received the schedule of clinicals and a list of tests, quizzes, presentation, community project, etc. So I am stressing out a lot just thinking about it.

Nick, I can't complete the Baycare orientation! I can't at all at home and I've been trying at work (shhhhh :nono:) and I keep getting locked out. Super frustrated. Keenblondie thank you for the info!!

Does anyone know if they carry the scissors and badge holder in the bookstore?

Elga which campus are you attending?

Thanks everyone for responding about the patch. Also i just finished the baycare hospital orientation training without any problems, it took like 3 hrs though.

Tebyrd, I am in DM 1PM

Does anyone know when and where the seminar "Math for Nurses" is?

We got this file from our prof, but it would not open.

Elga,

You have to pre-register for the math by emailing [email protected] and writing "math4nurses" in the subject line. It is two evenings August 30 and September 1 at Dale Mabry from 5 to 7 pm. It is limited to the first 75 respondents so if you are interested don't delay. I registered as soon as I saw it (not a fan of math).

Thanks, Islandcharmed. It looks like a lot of work for the first 2 weeks.
