Hillsborough Community College Fall 2010

Published

hello! i just joined this lovely and informative site after lurking for a few weeks. i'm planning to apply for the program after this fall semester. (need to finish a&pII and college algebra).

who else?! :)

edit: can someone walk me through the application process? i know it's pretty easy, but i like knowing 100%! i'm not sure if an adviser would help me much. i know you need high school transcripts, an hcc application and a nursing application. then you just gather all the papers (including money?) in like a.... manila envelope and mail away? or can you electronically send your high school transcripts to them? thank you.

Book packages to arrive on Monday at the DM campus I'm told. The warehouse is at DM so all books will arrive there and then they will be shipped out to the other campuses (or at least this is true for Plant City). So the packages will likely arrive at PC circa Wednesday? I'll be knocking on the DM bookstore's door on Monday. I'm unbelieveably stressed right about now. So behind. Good thing I believe in the power of prayer. :saint:

Sidenote: Why haven't we (Plant City students) received similar communication? Uggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Are the lab jackets mandatory? Do they need to have a patch on the left arm as well? They're supposed to be port wine in color, right?

Everyone,

Relax!!!! I remember beinb in your shoes right before last semester but looking back I was overeacting on some things. If you have a good basic knowledge on math you will do fine on the calculations. As far as the other grain to mg it is simply just a matter of memorizing. Several of us used note cards and it worked out great.

Tebryd0020 - I feel your pain b/c we haven't been notified of anything for this semester which is frustating for me b/c I am a little neurotic about organinzing my school schedule with family and work. Do you know who your instructor is yet? You don't have to have the jacket unless you want one and yes you have to have the patch on it as well.

Keenblondie, thank you for the reassurance :) My professor is Mrs. Crews. The only thing we've been notified about is the textbooks. That's about it. Haven't received any communication regarding selecting our clinical facility or chapters to study or anything.

hey guys!

I have been out of the loop on here for a while and was just catching up on posts. Looks like the majority of you are at DM or PC nights. I am at PC days and my prof is Mrs. Coleman. We received our books list and schedule, but still have not received an email regarding picking clinical days (ours are TH/F). I am such a planner, and I hate that I don't have everything situated right now :(!

Anyways, I saw a lot of posts about the bookstore saying that the packet would be in on Monday at DM. I have been calling the bookstores and have not gotten a human being for at least a week now. I'm hoping if you DM people are able to get them we will have them in a couple days!

Oh, and I saw you guys doing your checklist for supplies! I got some compression hose/socks for varicose veins at the uniform store. I heard it helps your legs not feel as tired as well as preventing the veins. Just one more thing to buy, I guess lol.

I bought my scrubs, penlight, badge holder, and bandage scissors today. Now I am happy. I think I look good in portvine :-))

Hey guys...

Persgirl, I hear you loud and clear! And...you are right, we WILL all make it!

Tebyrd, If I didn't already have my books I would REALLY be freaking. I don't blame you for knocking on their door Monday morning!!! We WILL make it through this, though...and prayers always help! :)

The lab jackets are OPTIONAL. But when cooler weather hits our only options are a long sleeve (black or white) shirt UNDER our scrub shirt OR the lab jacket (I seem to remember them saying Port Wine OR White) and YES they must have a patch, also. I bought Port Wine from allheart when I bought my scrub shirts.

Happy reading, everyone!

Where are you guys getting the badgeholder from?

I got it from the Uniform City on Kennedy. It costs 0.99

They also sell them at the bookstore...which I know you will be visiting on Monday morning!! ;)

Keebnblondie...sorry, I missed your post until just now. THANK YOU for the reassuring words!
