hello! i just joined this lovely and informative site after lurking for a few weeks. i'm planning to apply for the program after this fall semester. (need to finish a&pII and college algebra).
who else?! :)
edit: can someone walk me through the application process? i know it's pretty easy, but i like knowing 100%! i'm not sure if an adviser would help me much. i know you need high school transcripts, an hcc application and a nursing application. then you just gather all the papers (including money?) in like a.... manila envelope and mail away? or can you electronically send your high school transcripts to them? thank you.
I got Plant City Nights too!!!!
It seemed like the only thing we can't do till after orientation is registar for the actual class. CPR has to be done before the first day of class so I would say you can do it whenever. Also I would think they would assign the drug test at orientation since we would need a form, or maybe they will just do it there....who knows.
Congrats to everyone and Good Luck!
Hello everyone!
Ive been following this thread for a while now and it has been very helpful. Oh and congrats to all the other ppl who got accepted! but the reason why im posting is because i have a question... i just got the 2nd letter from HCC with the campus assignments but it also say i need to do a background check and confirm my seat. i already did all that last time or else they wldnt have even sent me this letter. i see one person also has this problem. does every one have this in their letters or is it because the didnt receive the stuff maybe?
hey guys. I'm getting started on everything very late in game. I paid for the online background check and everything went through. I says an email will be sent when it's completed. I haven't received anything and was wondering how long it took you guys to get a confirmation (if they send it after they look you up and clear you). I don't know anything about the drug testing. I assume it would be at orientation, but not sure. I emailed my questions to the advisor, and will let you guys know what I find out. I will be handing everything in on Monday!!
Hello and congrats to everyone so far!! :)
Received mine today....I'm a Plant city night and weekender tooooooooo YAY!
I also had the same papers as the first letter. I guess the background check is just another reminder and for those who are just now receiving acceptance letters. and I know the confirmation letter is different since it says the campus assignment on it this time.
Squeen13, I paid for the background check mar 10th and my confirmation e-mail is dated March 11 :) They did double charge me (got my money back already) so be careful! But it sounds like you had no problems going thru. Congrats again!!!!
Hi Tebyrd, how are you. I see that Nick has not posted in a while i wanted to let you guys know that my apeal went through as well. yeahh. I wanted to let Nick know that i got DM days and thank you for all your support the last 5 months. congrats again to all those who got in. see you all at orientation....Gods Willing.
Yay Crynholder and Ceedee, we're future classmates!!! I'm so exicted about the bonds I know I'm going to make in nursing school. I've heard some lifelong friendships develop (I'm so sappy, lol) .
Okay. I need to turn in my confirmation letter and do the background check this week. I'll look up CPR dates now. I asked about when we should do it because I saw a class that I may be able to do in May but the way they have letter written is confusing. I don't have it in front of me but I know they mention that CPR must be done before the first day of class and then in the next sentence they say something about not registering until after orientation so I didn't know if they meant registering for classes (which was pointless to state since the system won't even allow us to) or registering for CPR. IDK. They need to re-do that letter.
Still excited though :redbeathe.
Kman girl this is AWESOME NEWS!!!!! YAAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!! See ladies, we all made it in :) A little faith goes along way. I'm very happy for you and congrats!
We need to make it a point to meet each other at orientation. (Nick, Kman, Squeen, Cryn, Ceedee...hope I'm not forgetting any one from the core obsessive group, lol).
For those wondering about the CPR class. I just finished up NP2, and last year when I was waiting for orientation like all of you, I went ahead and took the CPR class. Most of the students at orientation already had completed the CPR class prior to orientation as well. They will take a copy of your CPR card at orientation if you have it (make a copy prior to going to orientation, both sides of the card). If you do not have it, they ask you turn it in with all of the other paperwork (physical, immunizations, etc.) that is due before classes start. They made us take CPR for health care professionals. I go to DM campus, but I actually took my CPR course at South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City. It was a great course, the instructor was great, and she was to the point, and did not keep us any longer than we had to be there. If you google South Florida Baptist Hospital and look under the classes tab, it lists the upcoming classes. Good luck to all and have a great summer!!

I think the cut off for the fall semester was around 3.4/3.5 (based on what I have seen) so I would say you are okay but as you know it varies by semester. As far as your transcripts are conserned I did not include my high school transcript and I was fine (the applications says "Applicants are responsible for verifying that final official high school transcripts or GED scores have been received by the Admissions, Registration and Records Office prior to the established program deadline date"). I also did not include my HCC one because I was told they would forward them but I would suggest sending your application early so they can get them from the Registration office in time. I included a couple links you might have already seen but I found helpful in knowing all it all worked.

Also don't be afraid to email [email protected]. She normally will get back to you. Finally, when in doubt include it in your application (no harm in sending). Hopefully some of that helps and Good Luck in the applications process!
