Hillsborough Community College Fall 2010

Published

hello! i just joined this lovely and informative site after lurking for a few weeks. i'm planning to apply for the program after this fall semester. (need to finish a&pII and college algebra).

who else?! :)

edit: can someone walk me through the application process? i know it's pretty easy, but i like knowing 100%! i'm not sure if an adviser would help me much. i know you need high school transcripts, an hcc application and a nursing application. then you just gather all the papers (including money?) in like a.... manila envelope and mail away? or can you electronically send your high school transcripts to them? thank you.

squeen13...the nursing class itself is 10 credit hours therefore you would need to take another class to get to/over your 12 credit hours needed. i assume they have students take electives needed to get their as in the state of florida....ie your humanities, sciences, maths, ect outside your already completed prerequisites. the only semester in which you will have 12 credit hour and not need to take other classes is in the 3rd semester of the nursing program because we will have our normal 10 credit class plus a 2 credit class on mental health. but to be safe you can always talk to an advisor. Hello Everyone,

Has anyone received confirmation on the receipt of their acceptance of their seat in the program/campus assignment? I requested that MF notify me of it and/or to let me know if there is anything missing from my application/acceptance package and have not heard form her yet. It seems that some things have been asked for redundantly even when they are listed in the webadvisor documents as having been received. Does anyone know if it is possible to meet MF in person to get confirmation of seat acceptance in the program? The 20th is approaching quickly and i would hate to be all dressed up with no where to go. :uhoh3:

i personally haven't received anything and sent it out on monday. i did enclose a self addressed envelope so i would know they got it, i will try and remember to respond when/if i get it back. i am sure you are fine and they got everything, just remember they are a little slower in processing sometimes and with all the acceptance letters coming in it will take a little bit. see you at orientation.

oh crap i thought i read that it was 12. for some reason i was thinking clinicals were calculated as seperate credit hours. so sorry for the misinformation squeen :(. I need to drop off my acceptance. stressed between work and family so i have been delaying it but will definitely go Tuesday. Thanks cryn!

I am new to this site, but got my campus assignment this week - Dale Mabry. However, how do we know if we are in the day classes or night classes? My letter just said that I was assigned to the Dale Mabry Campus. Regarding the background check, I e-mailed MF about it and she said she had not gone through them yet, but will let us know if it is missing. I also met a nurse who just graduated from the program in December and she recommended taking the CPR course before orientation.

Hey Pers! I think (don't quote me on this, lol) but the only nighttime class offered in the fall will be the plant city classes so if you got dale mabry then it's daytime. there's a rolling enrollment for the night and weekend program so they do acceptance for the fall night and weekend at plant city and the spring night and weekend group goes to dale mabry.

Dale Mabry only has days during the fall start time. Therefore you are in days.

Howdy! I noticed that HCC Dale Mabry was not listed in last year of NCLEX pass rates for RN schools, and only the far out branch near Orlando was. Is the Dale Mabry on suspension or warning? I guess its all up to the individual, but it is a reflection on the instructors program and/or admissions policies (allowing people priorities above others with abilities). The far out located branches of schools always seem to do better, since it seems to be the people who get there by talent, while the main campus students often have some informal political power. I did not know and don't want to make anyone mad, but I am just curious. All of the community colleges have their informal unfair power structure 'games', unless this is the first. But the omission of the Dale Mabry NCLEX pass rates would indicate otherwise. Thanks, good luck, and I'M JEALOUS!! Wish I had considered HCC sooner, but will do so now. What the hell, huh?!?!?!

oh no! I've pretty much taken every class under the sun. I will graduate with my A.A. this summer and am already a student at USF. I guess I will just have to take some easy online classes.

Oh, and I turned in my acceptance on Monday in the box and received my postcard back today. I would recommend going there in person, and speaking to someone in the window that can try to hook you up with someone from the health science department. I tried calling before and I was on hold for about 45 minutes, and MF has taken up to a week to get back to me before.

Did you make copies of your confirmation papers? If you did, you would definitely have a case if they lost your stuff (in worst case scenario). If they already cashed your check, I would say you are fine. I'm sure they just send out generic reminders for everyone. If they didn't include another FDLE form to sign with your campus choice I would say there's nothing to worry about :).

For all of you Dale Mabry attendees don't let negativity, of any kind by any means, discourage you. Nay-sayers appear in the most random forms :nono:.

I am new to this blog and i have just been reading everyone's experiences and stories...but I noticed that no one has said they were accepted at the Southshore Campus, in Ruskin. That is where I am going, and they offer both day and night classes I believe. This Jan was their first class out.

Also, Millie Flores has been great in responding to my emails. I did get an "Out of Office" replay, which states to keep resending the email, and if you send it during school hours, she gets back immediately. Also, you can not contact her because she does not have a direct line, because if she did, I'm sure it would ring non-stop.:)
