hello! i just joined this lovely and informative site after lurking for a few weeks. i'm planning to apply for the program after this fall semester. (need to finish a&pII and college algebra).
who else?! :)
edit: can someone walk me through the application process? i know it's pretty easy, but i like knowing 100%! i'm not sure if an adviser would help me much. i know you need high school transcripts, an hcc application and a nursing application. then you just gather all the papers (including money?) in like a.... manila envelope and mail away? or can you electronically send your high school transcripts to them? thank you.
2011 nurse...thanks so much for taking the time to share this with us!:)
Tebyrd...I hear you...it might be worth the wait to have it paid for! BUT...remember that you can always sell your duplicate copy. Just an idea... (and the Clinical Calculations book is NOT that expensive...I think it was $35).
thank you so much 2011nurse! I am really hoping I get in. I am going to meet with someone next week to figure out my gpa and standing on the alt list. I really appreciate the prayers! I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, but I am still hoping everything goes as I hoped! I will try and keep you updated, and I hope you guys will let me know how orientation goes (if there's empty seats or w/e)! I know it's so far away, but I am hoping I can still join you all on your nursing journey! Best of luck guys!!!:redbeathe
Hey Tebyrd...
I actually paid $48 for my Clinical Calculations book, from Barnes and Noble, with a coupon. The number is ISBN-13: 9781416047407 if you want to shop it on-line.
There is NO guarantee that they won't come out with another edition,etc...but you know that they aren't going to completely change the way they do the math, regardless. It is your decision, but when I heard that MANY people FAIL the first math test because of lack of time to prepare, I was SOLD on buying it ahead.
Hope you are having a GREAT weekend!!
Nickdost... you have convinced me to get the Clinical Calculations book! Math IS my weakness. I plan to buy it from Amazon though. Did you purchase the Potter & Perry book from Barnes as well? And all this comes in the bundle you mentioned earlier?
Thanks to everyone for advice, updates, and etc! I could use whatever tips from others since I do not know anyone personally who is in/going into nursing school except the people on this board :)
Ceedee,
I think that is a very smart move, especially if math is not a stronger point. I bought Potter & Perry from Amazon...their price was better and they had free shipping at the time.
Yes...there is a (very expensive) bundle that is offered by the bookstore that includes ALL of the books that we will need for the first semester. These two will be included. I would rather have them early and get a jumpstart. I figure that I can (hopefully) sell the duplicates IF I decide to buy the bundle. I have heard that the bundle is a fair deal, but that it MAY include some books that we will not end up using. I am sure that they will cover that information at orientation. If not...I will ask.
Have a great Sunday!
