Hillsborough Community College Fall 2010

Published

hello! i just joined this lovely and informative site after lurking for a few weeks. i'm planning to apply for the program after this fall semester. (need to finish a&pII and college algebra).

who else?! :)

edit: can someone walk me through the application process? i know it's pretty easy, but i like knowing 100%! i'm not sure if an adviser would help me much. i know you need high school transcripts, an hcc application and a nursing application. then you just gather all the papers (including money?) in like a.... manila envelope and mail away? or can you electronically send your high school transcripts to them? thank you.

What is the due date to accept? I anxious to see how much longer I will have to wait to know for sure. :(

Hi all! What a great site! Ive been following the threads here for several months now and it's been wonderful to see that I wasnt alone in all my worrying about getting in! (I got my acceptance letter today also). Not sure what the cut-off GPA score will end up being (3.55 is my guess)???- I had a 3.66 (if you got in post your GPA here so others that are applying will have an idea of what they need to be competitive).

Congrats to all my fellow classmates and for those who didnt get in this time dont give up!!! Anyone who is appealing dont get down- they have an appeals process for a reason and you are not out of the running yet! From previous threads I saw plenty of people who didnt get the initial acceptance letter and then were chosen as alternates. If you are a newcomer to this site and you are still taking your pre-reqs make sure you get as many A's as possible because the competition is only going to get harder and the GPA is all that counts. One thing I did that I think helped was that I hand carried my college transcripts to the counsellor back in December and watched over her as she entered my courses into the computer to make sure it was done correctly.

Looking forward to seeing all of you June 15th and 16th!!!!!:yeah:

Hey Squeen13- the letter said we have until March 19th to accept so they should know how many additional slots will remain shortly after that...just a little more waiting.

Congratulations Kemnurse!

And I believe there is hope for the alternates as well :)

Ladies, please let me know if you end up being charged twice. Haven't paid yet and will wait for you guys to give the clear.

So tracking charges thus far-there's the $35 for the confirmation letter, $63 for the background check and $45 for the CPR class. Am I missing anything?

We're supposed to put the informed consent criminal form along with the check and confirmation letter all in one package right? Bc the confirmation letter didn't mention it... just assuming since we have to fill it out. I am planning on delivering it tomorrow.

Yep- put them all together. I just did the background check and the payment went through fine...My guess is the system may have been overloaded earlier today with so many attempting to do it all at one time.

Does anyone have any thoughts (or a syllabus) on what we can read up on between now and Aug to be better prepared?

There was the initial $53.00 for the application...and there will be a drug test at orientation which I believe we have to pay for, as well.

Tebyrd...I will let you know ASAP about the payment for the bkgrd check. I left a message last night and expect to know something today!

Have a great day guys!

I have been a lurker for sometime now. During the application process and the waiting period, it has been a roller-coster ride for us all. I got my acceptance letter yesterday and I am very excited. My GPA for pre-req is 3.72. Congratulations for those you got in and for those of you who did not make it to this round, please do not give up hope.

By the way, does anyone know whether DM will be offering the evening program this Fall or is it just Plant City? My first choice would be the DM evening program b/c I have a full-time job. Thank you.

I OFFICIALLY accepted my spot in the program today. I hand delivered the paperwork/check to the drop box...and I ran into two others that were doing the same. Their GPA's were 3.6 and 3.67!! So, it is looking more and more like the cutoff WAS above 3.5, but we can't be sure.

I got a response this morning from "Edge" (the bkgrd check people). My payment was NOT duplicated and they confirmed receipt of my information...

Now...the wait for the campus assignment letters!

I have spoken with several people currently in the program, and they said to read anything you can in Potter & Perry's Fundamentals of Nursing, in advance. I bought it a month ago and it is a DRY read...

I was also told that if you can get a jumpstart on the MATH, it will be a big help. I also bought an NCLEX study guide, and a few others.
