hello! i just joined this lovely and informative site after lurking for a few weeks. i'm planning to apply for the program after this fall semester. (need to finish a&pII and college algebra).
who else?! :)
edit: can someone walk me through the application process? i know it's pretty easy, but i like knowing 100%! i'm not sure if an adviser would help me much. i know you need high school transcripts, an hcc application and a nursing application. then you just gather all the papers (including money?) in like a.... manila envelope and mail away? or can you electronically send your high school transcripts to them? thank you.
A 3.55 cut off does sound high. But, last Fall the cut off was around a 3.45 and there are more applicants this year. Also, the minimum gpa in the Spring is much lower than the fall. I think last Spring the cut off was a 3.2. SO, if you don't get in during the Fall with a 3.5 then you will for sure get in during the Spring. Don't be discouraged. You will get in.
@squeen and @kmangirl......do NOT give up hope just yet! The acceptance due date is right around the corner and I'm sure people have applied to different nursing programs and could possibly decline acceptance if HCC is not their #1 choice. Everything works out for the best!
I can't believe a 3.55 would be the cutoff, that is INSANE!
I was planning on waiting until orientation to take the CPR class but idk...?
Congrats on those who did get in again!
Thanks for the words of hope. I guess the thing i have to get straight is my gpa. I will apply in the spring if i can get that corrected...my letter says that it is a 3.19.....i calculated something else....very different. Let me know if i am calculating it incorrectly.
AP1 A's in both
AP2 A's in both
MICRO A's in both
ENC 1101 C
SOC A
Math...i took college al and got a C but i was told that they would use my higher math with the B grade.
I get a 3.42 or 3.57 depending on the math. Either of those will give me a really good chance in the spring....but not a 3.19
ceedee...the same thing happened to me!! Finally, (after 20 min.) an error message came up, but then when I clicked to remove the error message, the screen said Application Processed. I have NOT received any confirmation or anything else. In fear of paying TWICE...I decided to wait and talk to a human being tomorrow. A bit frustrating...
Ceedee,
I went back on the "Edge" website... here is the contact phone number if you need it: (321) 722-3343
They are in Melborne,FL. I started to enter my info. a second time, just to see what it would do. It recognized my social as being already in the system, let me pay, and processed the transaction right away this time. Now, we'll just see if I ended up paying $63.00 TWICE, or not.

Let me know when you guys are planning to take the class, maybe we could take it on the same day to get acquainted.
My GPA is a 3.57 and it is my understanding that the courses that are used to calculate your GPA are as follows:
ENC I
A&P I
A&P I Lab
A & P II
A&P II Lab
Micro
Micro Lab
Sociology
College Algebra
If you've taken other pre or co requisite courses I do not believe they were calculated into your application GPA. I"m not very certain about the whole "tie-breaker thing" as the only tie-breakes I would imagine appropriate would be those competing for the floor GPA. Maybe at that point they take into consideration additional courses that may have been taken and will meet degree requirements but I'm not certain.
