Hi Ya'll! Any new pre-nursing students?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

hello, are there any pre nursing students here that would like to dicuss anything? i would like to but it seems nobody wants to reply to anything....i know ya'll are out there :lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2:  what classes are you taking, how is it? :clown:

I'm new too :-). I've been wanting to do this for years and now all my kiddos will be in school I'm going or it. I am taking A&P and microbiology pre-reqs and then I can apply for the ADN program next Fall.

Oh and I'm 31 so I'll be an older student too.

Specializes in CNA.

Hi, I am going for my RN and I am just starting out..I just finished a Math Class and Sociology this summer and for the fall I have English 1, US History, Psychology, and Medical Terminology..So ready to be done with my Prerequisites but I know I still have a while.

hi guys! i am currently working as a medical assistant. i've been an MA for over 10 years and i am taking my RN pre-req's. good to see some older students here, as i am 32 myself. 33 in november. eeeek:p

i am taking human growth and development right now and i will be taking anatomy in the fall. after that i have to take physiology, micro, and pharmacology. then i can apply to the program. i am really wanting to hurry up and be a nurse already, but i am glad that i am at least in the process:)

anyone in austin tx or nearby?

I'm new as well. 28 years old...single mom to a 5 year old and working full time. Ehp, I know!

My plan got a little changed when the school I was going to changed their requirements. Kind of glad because I had a low grade in the A&P1 and couldn't afford to have anything less than an A. The nursing school here basis only off curriculum gpa. Tough school to get into.

So here's my plan:

Fall-2011: CHM 101, MTH 3, PSY (developmental) 230

Spring-2012: BIO 231 (a&p), MTH 158

Summer-2012: Humanities class, probably spanish

Fall-2012: BIO 232 (a&p)---I hope spliting 1 and 2 up is okay. I don't want to take it as a summer class.

Spring-2012: take TEAS test (entrance exam)

August 2012: apply to nursing program

I love to talk to people and get input, etc. Feel free to reply, message, friend. :)

Hi! I am two years in to my psychology degree and realized that it is not what I want to do. I have always thought about nursing but I am so scared! I am not scared of the job, but more of failure. :( I have a GPA right now of 3.6 after two years at a four year college. I am always on the Dean's list and rock out on all of my classes. However, with that said, I never have to crack a book. I am not learning anything and feel like I am just paying for my degree and not learning a darn thing in route.

So I have decided to change and I need encouragement. Maybe you guys can answer some of my questions? I have all pre-reqs except AP classes and Micro. I am still a full time student at my college (no nursing courses here), but I did learn that I can take courses at other colleges and transfer them in. A pre-req for AP I is Bio and Chem. However, I have found an online AP course (with lab) that I can take without having to take bio or chem (yes, it will transfer in to my school). The school I have been accepted to said that I need AP I, II but does not state that I need Chem or Bio. Do I need them?

Thanks!

i'm starting a free cna training program in 2 weeks but i am hoping to get into a nursing program within the next two years

I'm a pre-nursing student. I have only one pre-req left to take and I'm also going to be taking a support course this coming fall semester. So far the courses have been okay. I've gotten A's and a B in the pre-reqs I have taken. I'm so proud of that because I was in college before(long time ago), and just didn't study and focus on classes like I was supposed to. Huge mistake. Anyhoo, I'm back on track and ready to do this.

I was planning on applying to an ADN program. But recently, I started looking into some BSN programs. Not sure what to do at this point. Eventually, I would want to get the BSN. I know I could go for the ADN for now, and then do a RN-BSN program. I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Hi LouLou55! I'm also a pre-nursing student for LPN program @ a tech school! I'm kinda stressed out because I just took the entrance test today and missed it by ONE point!! to top it off i have to wait 30 days before retaking it! but oh well i know i will get it next time, then i have to take the Pax test, which im also nervous about! but i know sooner or later i will be able to get into the program! Are you taking your lpn @ a tech school or regular college? well hope all goes well for you! Good luck in everything! :)

Hey Nena! Dang, that sux! One stupid point! Good luck next time! I'm sure you'll get it. :) I'm going to a community college. Starting on my pre-req's. super excited about getting them over with already! :clown: I'm going for my LPN first...One step at a time .

Is anyone taking the prerequisites while working full time or juggling other obligations? Like I said I am in a PhD program and I estimate that all of my term-time commitments take 60-70 hours a week. I only want to take one pre-req at a time because I only have the sciences to do, and I have at least four semesters and two summers before I graduate (and don't mind waiting a year or so to finish them up). I'm trying to figure out whether I'm crazy to attempt to take Chemistry I with that much work.

I'am deff! I work full time, taking care of my one year old son, in the process of selling and building a home and school. Wears me out just thinking about it! But its worth it b/c i really really really wanna be a :nurse:

I was just wondering, why are some people applying to more then 1 Ivy Tech campus? Wouldnt that be a heck of a drive for some people if they lived in Jeffersonville and got into the Indy campus?

Also, if I took the TEAS test and didnt do very well in the math portion because honestly, I suck at math, and that is the absolute truth, but anyway, if I didnt do very well and didnt get into the RN program, does that automatically put me in to the LPN program, or is that something I would have to apply for too?

Hi guys! I just wanted to share my happiness with you!!! :D

I will be finally done with my pre-requisites in just a few hours! And next week I'll be applying to the nursing program. It difficult for me to believe it. It just seems like it was a month ago when I first started my classes and now I'm finally done.

Good luck in your classes!!!! Keep up with the good work and soon you'll all be done with your pre requisites as well!
